So, it was a little difficult to order the exhaust with everything going on and being in Cali. I contacted Turn14 and some other wholesalers that sent me to shops in Texas, those guys said its hard getting stuff into Cali and shipping would be expensive, they recommended me a few Cali shops. There are only a few shops that are HKS dealers in CA, then CA sales tax and shipping is expensive with a 1 to 2 month wait. After doing all the math, the HKS ended up being 2x the price of the Medallion, totally not worth it unless your an HKS fan like me. I ended up getting the HKS off Ebay for a similar price with a 2 week wait. Hopefully all goes well.

I loved the HKS on my Turbo II. Awesomest rotary exhaust - on that car at least. Never heard one on the FD but I want the HKS if it sounds similar to what it sounded like on the TII

I don't want a loud exhaust; Tanabe is great in that regard. However, I'm not enjoying the sound...I hear Rx7s on youtube that sounds way more rotary-y... it sounds very hoarse to me and not enough of that rotary hmmm that my FB had.
Personally, i guess i need to go hear more exhausts but I am tempted to sell mine.

I have owned and used the HKS super turbo exhaust on my Rx-7 for about 8 years. When I get the time I will get a video together for you to see. I think it is such an underrated exhaust compared to the RE, racing beats, etc. I love the "tuner" look but it is not at load like most tuner mufflers. I can hear still hear the turbos spool and BOV at WOT.

I think its quirky and cool that the Japanese looked to nature's inspiration(owls) for when they designed the slotted tails.

This is what I plan on getting as well for pretty much the same reasons. I like the sound of turbos more than brap and it makes for more enjoyable long drives without making your head ring. I am kind of hoping HKS will come to their senses and offer a full titanium version of the super turbo like they have for the GTR and STI. That's one of the main reasons why I have not bought one yet. My catback is very similar to the super turbo but its 25+ years old and starting to develop a hole.

i got a sport cat (it came from Japan so it needed a cat to be road legal there) and a RE Amemiya dolphin tail cat back system and honestly i love it not too loud and doesn't make my ears bleed on longer drives,

Thank you!
Can you also list the downpipe and midpipe you have with the video?

HKS super turbo muffler. This exhaust is like so quiet. When I started the car I couldn't even hear it. Twin turbos random 3 inch down pipe rx7.com bonez high flow cat and HKS super turbo muffler.

I had my Racing Beat cat back exhaust since 1999 on my Fd. It has held up very wel and sounds great. It is not loud at all and does not drone. Mine is the less restricted single tip one. I did a review video on my YouTube channel called Arrivendrive. You can hear it in the video and get my full opinion. I truly love it.

Sounds almost identical to my Apexi Super Megaphone and im on stock cat. Very similar mufflers.

Thats a nice looking exhaust. The HKS Tip is huge but it looks ok after I installed the diffuser.

For the thread - I am seeing a trend with JASMA certified exhaust missing the Brand Name on them.
Mine did not have any HKS marking on it, but it did have the part number stamped on it.

I've noticed this as well. I had to track down what my exhaust was by using the Jasma number on it along with the other part number stamped. No Apexi label found.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet--- a resonated mid pipe with Magnaflow muffler has always been my go-to for probably 20+ years now. Banzai sells a nice one that fits well with no drama (first item- SS Resonated Midpipe):

For me my favorite has always been the RE-A Twin Dolphin Tip. I finally got one a couple years ago, and I wish I would have gotten it sooner. The Quality is awesome, and it sounds sooooooo good.

I have a JDM downpipe non cat, direct fit, stock mid and Racing Beat back end. Love the low hum of the RB, not too loud but it makes a satisfying tune when you get on it…. I’m in CA so a loud exhaust attracts Police, no issues with RB so far. The stock mid keeps the smell at a minimum vs a straight pipe. 🤮

Update on the HKS super turbo muffler. I drove the car and the HKS does not flow as well as the Apexi N1 Dual, Loss of about 2 psi or so. I had to turn up the boost controller to get the same PSI as before.

But I suspect the HKS Super Turbo Muffler sounds better.

I have the N1 Duals, love how they look but hate how they sound.

I loved mine too, I even got Ti tips and 2 sets of silencers for them which did quite it down.

Yes the HKS Super Turbo Muffler sounds way better. It's very deep. Standing in front of the car all I hear is engine and a soft deep rumble. Im looking forward to swapping out the Bonez high flow cat with a Banzai magnaflow midepipe soon.

I already have a 2.5 resonated midpipe but it flowed less then the 3" high flow cat so the cat stayed in.

I have silencers as well to quiet them down, but still sounds like a motor boat haha.

Run them with DP and MP (with a Borla resonator), since 2000, but keep looking for another cat back option for my neighbors and my wife.
