My Hyper Ground System Install with picture.
After my post of winter mods I got a lot of questions about how I did my ground setup, so here it is.
Keep in mind this is my personal setup and there may be better (or worse) ways to do it.... so copy at your own risk :-) http://www.myrx7.com/images/damians_ground_points.jpg I also suggest adding an extra ECU ground. |
Great pic, that will help others alot I'm sure. Quick question then, any noticable difference? Not in butt dyno HP but in smoothness or drivability?

nice job.

sweet. i started installing mine last week and only got 2 in. this will help out alot. nice work and thanks for sharing.
i just saw you are in MN too, you should come to St. Cloud and do the rest of mine.:D |
Very informative, thanks for the pics!

Yes these are great help! Thank you damian.
|
Thanks for both this pic and the pics in the other thread. Given me lots of ideas, and a new list of things to work on. :)

did you make the wires yourself or did you get a kit?
|
ur welcome guys, glad i could help...
apexkw, it is a kit, you can get it here: http://66.216.67.51/product.asp?0=209&1=348&3=650 |

his website is looking bad-ass too!...
|
I am in Saudi right now and I guess I have been missing out on all the talk about this hyper ground system. So if I could just ask a couple of questions about it. I went to the link that told me about it and gave the dyno comparison but has any one else done a dyno test that can confirm that you will see results, and what if you have your battery relocated to the back in the storage bin behind the driver seat will the grounding lines reach. And for the last question how long does it take to install? Thanks for the help.

damn damian...
are you a graphic design artist?!?!? Very nice pics and write ups...nice website intro too :D |

I know this is mega old but figured I'd dig it up...Great thread and also I wanted to see if anyone had anymore input on the points damian used.
|
...i had to print my own diagram recently to install gorudn wires on my track car :-)

Question for you Damian, how does the insulation on the hyper ground wires for the downpipe and cat stand up to the heat from the exhaust? In one of your earlier threads you showed how you used coaxial cable wrapped around the OEM ground for the cat/muffler. Do you think the hyper ground wires make a better ground wire then the coaxial/OEM combination?
Also thank you for the great threads you have made. Full of useful info and great images, keep them coming. |

the hypergournd is much better than the coax crap i tired (heheh) and as long as you look the wire a away from directly touchign the pipes, it holds up fine to the heat. the ends get a little melted, but no bigie. >>Also thank you for the great threads you have made. Thanks Damian, hyper ground wires or equivalent it will be. All I have to do now is wait for the snow to melt and summer to arrive.
|
hehe, yup, im waiting for the warm weather to come back too :-)
|
A little off the subject but - Damian, I saved your site on my favorites, I was showing the vids to a bunch of people at work.
They loved the race stuff, but the most laughs came from the light saber stuff... :bigthumb: |
:-)

I'm very surprised that you bought a ground kit instead of fabbing up your own ! lol
no time or do you not think it can done correctly formuch cheaper? what gauge wire is used? gold plated terminals? |
>>I'm very surprised that you bought a ground kit instead of fabbing up your own ! lol
hehehe :-) wel i got the kit for a few reasons, one is yes, i didnt have time to make my own so i looked for somthin prefabbed. the other is that I liked how their yellow kit matched all the yellow stuff i had done to the cars engine bay :-) just as good of a kit can be made for cheaper if you have the time. I cant remeber the gauge, but its pretty thick shizzy, ...i dont rememebr the terminals being gold plated. |
so do you recommend this style (series) instead of something like the circle earth kit (parallel)?
Would a braided metal ground strap work just as well, to be used for the downpipe connection? |
i dunno anything about the circle earth kit?
nad yeah, a braided metal ground strap would work fine for the dp connection, i used the hyperground stuff cuz thre was a lot of extra left over. |
If anyone is interested I have a few prefabbed kits available to buy with colors in either yellow, purple, clear, blue, red, and black. They are all made of top notch extremely high quality 8gauge wire that come with 24Karat gold plated connectors with everything already sized for Damians kit. Iam charging $50 for the kit which is much cheaper then anyone elses price so please pm me if you are interested.
|
sounds cool, i would buy some if i didnt already have kits on both my cars. :-)
|
Since I'm re-wiring my harnesses I've removed some of the old grounds from the harness itself and replacing them with some 8 gauge, we'll see how it turns out...I'll probably post pictures when it's all completed. I just need to find a place that sells the connectors I need.
