Boost pattern 8-0-0

I put a boost gauge on temporarily. I drove the car and was getting around 8 or 9 psi under 4400rpm. At around 4500 rpm it went to zero. At idle it was pulling around 20 in vaccuum. When in gear at idle it was at around 15 vaccuum.

So it is obvious I have a problem. Now where do I start the search? I don't have a service manual and have no experience with this type of car. So please be specific with location and what to look for. Thanks, Jerry Any ideas what and where to look would be appreciated.

We all have similar problems it seems. I wish I had a ROtary specialist in my area! HAve you tried that? Pettit? Anyways here is some info you can sort through http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/boost_problems.html

I have the exact same problem... except my curve is more like 11-0-0. When I first got the car it was less than 11psi on the Primary. I found the problem in the coupling comming from the Y-Pipe to the IC. Primary Turbo problems are rather easy to find... on the other hand Secondary Turbo problems are a lot harder. I have checked just about everything I could with my little tool array and amature know how. I finaly gave up and it's in a mechanics hands now. I *should* hear back from them tomorrow and will post what they found.

Also a few other symtoms I noticed:

0 boost if I go past 4500 in a gear then shift to the next quick.
Around 20 inHg vacuum.
Running rich.

Hope it helps,
Chris

That is exactly what I am experiencing. I am also limited with this car and tools available. I really want to hear what and if your mechanic gets it figured out.

Mine boosts 14-5-5 so I don't know if it is the same proble but I am interested in your results.

Everyone check the E clip on your turbo actuator, they fall off too often and would cause a secondary problem. Hope this helps.

Yeah well.... bad news... The people didn't have a chance to work on my car. I am pretty dissapointed because I have been without it for a little longer than a week but hey I didn't get charged. They said that they were busy.. thats cool with me but I would just rather have my car and take it up there when they are not busy. I got to have it back so I can go to the MD BBQ this weekend. I'll try to check that E clip tonight when I get her back and see whats up.

Chris
