Who Is Using Autometers EGT Gauge
I'm this close to getting It for my na but am a little sceptical b'c of the gauge only reading from 0-1600f. What do you think?

That was my intial reaction: My EGT temps are NOT something I would want to trust AutoMeter with.

Originally posted by scathcart I was, but didn't trust it. I swapped to something else when I started getting into nitrous tuning. |
I have one and run nitrous but till I get it on a dyno with a wideband its useless.
|
Also, keep In mind I have a na. Although modified and using the S-AFC, my temps are going to be up there. (Due to the leaning effect the S-AFC has). But even still, my temps aren't nearly as high as a Turbo. So will my temps stay within the 1600F barrier that the Autometer Gauge monitors? Also, although many other varibles are Involved, but what about when In use with Nitrous?

Originally posted by silverrotor Then what did/do use after the Autometer EGT Gauge? Remember, I plan on Nitrousing, as you'll remember from our previous conversation.:) I don't want to get screwed when I setup for Nitrous only to find It's no good to me anymore. Greddy is what I went with. |

Originally posted by scathcart I recall. Greddy is what I went with. I'v herd the autometer is faster to register?? but after reading threads about the probs burning out, greddy seemed like the only choice. |

I did hear it sucked ass though. I got some inconsistent readings with it as well. I love the Greddy unit. I can't tell you how many times it has likely saved my motor. |
There is a good thread about autometer EGT gauge in the rotary performance fourum, you should save the poor guy before he buy's one!

What happend??
Did you buy a autometer? |
Sorry! i'm being dumb tonight! your still looking for opinions, didn't catch your secound thread. |
I'm this close to buying It. (This Is when you see my 2 fingers millimeters apart) but am still contimplating. I need to know your guys experience(s).
|
A buddy of mine just bought 2 greddy 60mm EGT gauges, one white and the other in black to see witch one would look best.
He has the black faced one for sale $200 bucks shipped! If it would help you out? |
But It won't fit my Dual Gauge Pod and my custom plate, both fit for 52mm Gauges (2 1/16), unfortunately.
|
You can make a 60mm fit in a 52mm plastic pod! you just file around the edges ever so slightly to wided the opening. I'm going to the dyno today, I'll post some pic's of my buddys MR2 turbo gauge pod with a 60mm in a 52mm pod.
|
Yea, I could trim the edges which wouldn't be hard. Keep us posted.

If you Turbo dudes are seeing 720C - 740C at WOT then It would be okay to to get the Autometer EGT Gauge seeing how a na Is not nearly generating as much heat as a Turbo.
With the above example at avg. being 730C, converted to Fahrenheit, due to the Autometer EGT reads In this mode (0-1600F), would be 1346F. Plenty of room 'till the 1600F barrier Is reached! |
I've run up to 1100 deg c on the top of 4th

Is 740*C what I should tune for? My car is coming out of the shop in the next few days and I'll need to tune it until I get on a dyno.
Oh and you can get a 52mm GReddy egt gauge for $155 from www.rx7store.net |

But does this Gauge come with necessary wiring and Probe to make a complete set up? If not, I found It difficult to look for the accessories for the EGT, unless It already comes with It. |
