Where does this wire go?

I was installing the mazdatrix strut tower brace with firewall mounts and engine brace, when I found a wire that was not connected to something. What is this, and where should it go?

It's an engine ground.

If my memory is correct it attaches to the motor by way of one of the transmission bolts.

ITSWILL 05-15-09 03:26 PM

yeah, just connect it to the engine somewhere.

There should be a 10mm bolt on the top of the bell housing. Attach it there.

It goes on the bolt for the flywheel peek hole.

Anyone have a picture of where it goes :)... or does it not even really matter?

It's a bonding strap b/t the chassis and the engine/transmission. Goes to one of the bolts that holds the transmission and engine together. Offer it up to the nearest one. I've driven several yrs without that one being attached. But recommend attaching it to one of the bolts mentioned.

Not sure why people are saying it goes onto one of the main transmission bolts. It would never fit on one of those bolts, unless you modify it. I've attached a picture of my pair of TII transmissions. You can see both ground straps are attached to their own 10mm bolt. NA transmissions have the same thing in a slightly different spot. It doesn't matter where it goes on the block/bell housing, but there's no sense making it more difficult that it has to be.

follow the pics that rotaryrocket put up..on top of the tranny there is a specific 8mm hole where a 10mm head bolt will secure it too the tranny thru the ring connector in your first pic..if you dont figure it out by tomorrow ill take a pic of it with the tranny in the car if that makes it easier for you to locate..depending on weather you still have all your emissions and extra crap on your motor it may be more difficult to locate. but in reality you can ground it anywhere to the motor.

Haha. I figured as much. I just happen to have pictures of random FC stuff, so it didn't require moving from my seat.
