Where do you mount you nitrous bottle?

Hi all, I was wondering where ya'll mount ya'lls bottles and what size your useing?

Madrx7racer 03-23-06 02:01 PM

the best place to mount it would be in one of the bins unless you want it to show...............you always have the option of mounting it underneath the passenger's seat. As far as size it depends on what aplication it's for...............a tiny bottle for Intercooler injection.....other than that it all depends on what you want to do with the car........

what are your plans for this car?

Bukwild 03-23-06 02:36 PM

out of sight of ricer theives, because your window will be smashed to get it.

Aaron Cake 03-23-06 03:17 PM

As far as optimal mounting, it gets mounted on an approximately 30 degree angle such that the pickup sits at the bottom of the bottle, facing the back of the car.

stevensimon 03-23-06 03:25 PM

i put mine in my bin at the 30* angle. had to get a little creative to keep it concealed though. its a 10lb bottle so the handle sticks above the bin... its in the drivers side bin with the valve sticking right by the b pillar. nice clean hard to spot and easy access. my switches and gauge are in the center counsil thing

not for show, i wanna hide it. as far as plans, just to give it a lil something extra when i need it ;)
Has anyone fit it in the back where the spare tire is? could a 10lb bottle fit back there?

Madrx7racer 03-23-06 04:24 PM

aren't you worried about getting rear ended and catching on fire?

RotaryEvolution 03-23-06 04:26 PM

don't you watch the FnF? under the seat YO!

Yeah, i think you've been watching F&F too much, i don't think it would be quite like that. The bottle is also probably more durable that the fuel tank, i.e. if i got rearended that hard i think the fuel tank may be more likely to explode anyway.

speed_monkey 03-23-06 09:32 PM

yes, but the gas tank isnt under retarded amounts of pressure...

if you say so.............place it there then.

torean 03-23-06 09:50 PM

honestly keeping a high pressure vessel in the spare tire bin is just asking for trouble....the warning probably has something that says "do not puncture..set on fire blah blah...." and yeah....nitrous itself isnt flamable..but the bottle will probably make a nice grenade if it explodes

RotaryEvolution 03-23-06 09:50 PM

dumbass, the head of pressurized tanks only takes a tap with a hammer to knock off, it also isn't nearly as well protected as the gas tank is under the frame.

by all mean, put it back there, i don't think anyone will mind. he was just putting in his .02.

philiptompkins 03-23-06 10:16 PM

OK, so it looks like putting it in the spare tire area is not recomended, lol. But i like to keep stuff (tools, car cover, ect..) in my cargo bin so i'd like to keep that clear. And i take it noone has put the tank in the spare tire area, for obvious reasons. is there any other smart places to mount it? has anyone put it behind the pass. seat? would a 10lb bottle fit under the seat? post pics of your setup :)

RotaryEvolution 03-23-06 10:24 PM

for safety reasons a pressurized tank should be mounted vertically, at most at a 45 degree angle away from the driver, that is just recommendations though in case the cap does pop off. not that there is anyplace that is away from the driver in a car, if the cap comes off and it isn't secure it will bottle rocket all around the inside of that car until it finds a window to eject itself from.

RX7FROMCAL 03-23-06 10:28 PM

i have mine in the trunk, i have a 5lb not the ten, have fun is a kick in the ass when the juice kicks in

motoman93117 03-24-06 02:11 AM

damn uys i think we got a smarty on ou hands.....10lb in the spare tire container...AHHHH i wont be rear ending other 7's anytime soon

reatrdedspleen 03-24-06 02:18 AM

You might be able to mount it properly behind the pass seat? idk. Anybody in sac area wanna buy some NOS? I aint usen it lol (b-day pressent..) :fawk:

Cosmo_TT 03-24-06 02:48 AM

Its a NOS brand 100shot dry kit Its either a 15, or 20lb bottle prolly 90% full.

If you want i can take some pics of it tomorrow and post em up. Shoot me an offer. or, im willing to trade.

Im just never gunna use it.

It IS used, the bottle has some scratchs on it here and there, but nothen major. nothen a good cleaning and polishing would fix :)

stevensimon 03-24-06 07:47 AM

i would think 5lbs wouldnt be very fun as i always run out of n2o seconds before i pull up on real some real competition and i have to pass it up with a 10lb bottle. 10lbs would probably fit behind the pass seat but no way is that going under the seat. seriously if you want a clean hidden install, put it in your bin. im sure there are some things in there that you can put in your spare tire well.

steward88rx7 03-24-06 08:13 AM

Just go out and get ya a sneaky pete, and be done with it.

Unless you have the appropriate fuel mods, a 100HP dry shot will kill the engine probably the first time it is used. Even if you never intend on using it (then why install it?) you probably WILL at some point for one reason or another. Either upgrade that kit to include a fuel spray, upgrade your stock fuel system, or don't install it.

cluosborne 03-24-06 09:31 AM

Also, if you do a google search or search this forum, you'll find plenty of information on a safe nitrous setup for a rotary. But I can tell you right now that you should NOT run a dry system on a rotary.

reatrdedspleen 03-24-06 04:43 PM

Hey, i didnt buy it, i got it as a B-day pressent. I never plan to use NOS. i just dont want to. even if it were a 50shot wet kit, i wouldnt. I have no plans to hook it up. i had nitrous in my 69 mustang, it was a lot of fun. but i dont see it for any of my rx7's, only my friends did.
