Wheel offset question..
I know this "should" be in the wheel/tire section..but I never get a response there. ANyway, Im terrible figuring out wheel offsets and such, so I need to ask. Im looking at a set of wheels that are 17x7.5, and in a 45mm offset. Will these fit my FC without any problems? Thanks alot..

a 45MM offset will stick in too close to the suspension using a 7.5" wheel.
To use a 7.5 inch wheel you would want a 35mm offset at the very least (and probably really prefer a 30mm). |
Damn :( Thanks Icemark..
Did you ever get my PM? |
I'll check PMs right now

... so the larger positive offset places the wheel inboard more.
so what happens when i have 17x9 in the rear and 17x8 in the front on a +23mm offset??? anyone run anything like this? |
Well,I guess it's time for my "old calcution" addresses.
The first will show the difference from original offset, eg 16" 7" wide 40mm offset http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html This is for the diameter of tires...Sorry about the vehicle, but it works: http://www.secret-secret.com/turbo/D...turbotire.html |
Better add- 1 mm equals .03937 in. Last time I didn't state the conversion, and one member went bonkers.

can a spacer be used with the original wheels listed on a stock 4lug FC?

You might have to roll the fender inner edge, depending on tire size you put on that 8" wide. -Ted |

i want to run 18 inch wheels on the front and back...i have 17 inch right now.here are the tires i am gonna get...
front: 225/35/18 back: 235/40/18 ok what offset should i run on the front and on the back? they are not gonna be really any taller than my 17's rx-7 v-8 conversion :piss: |
I always thought the rear lugs were longer on the 4 lug FC...can 1/4 inch spacers be used front and rear on a 4 lug FC with 17X7 at a +40 offset?

Why you want to run a spacer up front when the offset is correct? Running a spacer up front just compromises the wheel stud strength - you really should try and avoid spacers if possible. Those rims will fit without and spacers on your FC no problem. -Ted |
What about those H&R spacers that have new studs in them to bolt your wheels on to.
Would something like that work and would someone know where to buy those? thanks again Greg |
Ted,
The wheels fit exactly but the center caps will not fit without a spacer, I currently have 1/8th inch spacers up front just to clear the center caps. Do you think I can run 1/4 inchers front and rear just to add a little bit of width and ensure that both wheels are spaced out evenly? I couldn't find ANY other 1/8th inch spacers, we just had 2 in the shop (must have used them on some old school Z's years ago, don't have a full set though). Will 1/4 inchers be safe to use? I have cheesy kyokugen lug nuts |
anyone else know about the 4 lug studs? it's WAY too cold out here on long island for me to dig out the car and check (she's been sitting for about 8 weeks on my driveway, heehee). i love my GVR4 :)
