Welcome to the forum. There are many threads covering this topic, I mean many.. the search button is your friend till the end:)

speed_monkey 06-03-06 10:33 AM

tuning! and dont get one of those safc's... megasquirt is a cheap alternative for a stand alone, you can tune fuel/spark and get rid of that crappy AFM!

true dual exhaust
small streetport
CAI
aluminum flywheel

lupin 06-03-06 11:24 AM

to add to speed monkeys list

s5 intake (if not already there)
short shifter
5th +6th port inserts for the sleeves from pineapple racing

jouslee 06-03-06 01:12 PM

how come no one said aftermarket intake? is it bad for the FC?

90WhiteVrt 06-03-06 01:14 PM

No, intakes are great. A good intake will allow your engine to breath. A good intake and exhaust helps a 7 alot

speed_monkey 06-03-06 01:16 PM

I said cold air intake.. that's what CAI is :)

A cone in the engine bay doesnt count though, that will actually lose you power. You have to have proper ducting or route the intake into the fender well, do a search for prelude intake.

SAFC's are easy to tune, large aftermarket, and simple to install. They aren't half that bad. How many people here can tune a MS' ignition anyways? I think it's great, but a SAFC II is still an option.

Why a small streetport? Next time try efficient.

True duals don't really help/work with a streetport. True Duals are fine on a stock RX-7, but when you kick in the need for more scavaging (Search Intrega88Ls' thread, he speaks of how a collected exhaust is the best option for a ported RX-7), it becomes pointless and a restriction.

Wow.

adrock3217 06-03-06 05:02 PM

True Duals = awesome for stock port, especially if it's a DD..it makes the car a buttload of fun to drive. If you ever plan to get your engine ported, don't waste your money. Just get the collected system.

Kind of what Jager said, but with more meaning behind it :P

Maybe. I second the notion of porting. Now, just add another rotor...

speed_monkey 06-03-06 10:58 PM

umm if you dont add overlap then the true duals will still work fine... I said "small" streetport because everyone likes to make them massive which is stupid and wont do you any good. Focus on flow and minimizing overlap.

and SAFC = stupid air flow computer, why go half assed and get a piggy back???

jarred 06-03-06 11:02 PM

^ because not everybody has a laptop to tune one and sometimes even the know-how to put it all together and get it running efficiently

Uh, yeah. Any "efficient" port, read, makes decent power, will oust true duals.

speed_monkey 06-03-06 11:12 PM

Stock ports make decent power, and work with true duals, so they must be effecient.

If you dont add overlap how will you be affecting the effectiveness of duals?

You ever wonder why kahren can make more power with stock ports than most everybody on here that has a massive streetport? Bigger isnt always better, and you wont get far without good tuning either.

Uh, because he uses a GOOD COLLECTED EXHAUST, and he can tune to hell and back, 10times. Also, he makes bitchin' intake setups. Continue!

Pointless.

fcdrifter13 06-04-06 12:27 AM

Short shifter is ok, kinda pointless but meh.

I cant wait until i get my plug and play MS unit.

jouslee 06-04-06 02:37 AM

sorry to sound like a newb but whats a true dual exaust? And how do i get/install one of these Stupid computers? And does the stupid computer like to pass smog?

Thanks for answering a newbs questions!

adrock3217 06-04-06 05:58 AM

TRUE Dual exhaust NEVER touches eachother. 1 seperate pipe comes from each rotor.
