I just picked up a couple bottles of GM synchromesh friction modified. Heard it works wonders.

You made an excellent decision. Had an S3 that had a scratchy third syncro, ordered and installed redline. Ran it for about 400 miles, no difference. Changed to syncromesh, scratch was better immediately, gone within 200 miles. Shifted smoother than ever, too.
It's the only stuff I use in my manual trannys. Only bad news is that autozone sells it for half the price as pennzoil syncromesh..same exact stuff.

where would i get this from?

mwpayne 03-23-06 10:44 PM

Autozone, called pennzoil syncromesh. 'Bout $7 a bottle.

I tryed the Redline and it worked ok IMO!

slow_2ed_gen 03-23-06 10:50 PM

about 2 bottles will do it right?

nashman69g 03-23-06 11:20 PM

u need 3 if I remember correctly...2.5 qts is what it holds!

I USE ROYAL PURPLE MAX GEAR Sae75w90. It is good and makes my shifter shift smooth and not so rough.

Balzz 03-24-06 08:56 AM

Just filled it with the GM stuff. Tranny feels great...definitely smoother and easier to shift gears than with Redline MT90.
