Original equipment Bridgestone Eager 205/60/15. I pay roughly $48 each plus installation. But now I have 16x7 rims and I plan on using Sumitomo's because they are cheap and every set I've owned had awesome grip.

BlackR1 06-28-04 02:17 AM

Falken Azenis ST115 215/45/17 front, 245/40/17 rear, paid $279 for a set, special deal.

Toyo Proxes RA-1 235/40/17 front for track days. Came with a set of rims I bought.

Turbonut 06-28-04 10:32 AM

On my '89 TII since new:
Goodyear-Original-unusual wear pattern
Bridgestone-Too hard
Dunlop-Too hard
Michelin-Great all around, but not a very aggresive tread
Nitto-Too much tire noise
Falken-Great for the money. Thought traction limited
Presently Toyo Proxes-Best yet. Think price was about $600 for everything. Local tire shop.

MountainTurbo 06-28-04 10:35 AM

I have Yokohama AVS ES-100s all the way around, 225/50-R16.

Done some auto-xing with them as well as daily driving, and they do very well at both.

blacksailsxx 06-28-04 10:41 AM

goodyear eagle gt hr's(215/60/15), paid 280 shipped from tirerack.com installed and balanced myself. these tires suck, the sidewalls are way too flimsy. wouldnt recommend them to anyone. only advantage is that they are decent in the snow.

KingCobraV9 06-28-04 10:41 AM

lol u r gonna laugh at this one i have the factory phone dile rims... enough said HAHA i hate those rims.....

Dokta 06-28-04 01:17 PM

Falken Ziex 512 $48 each. Good tire, great grip when new, but they wear very quickly. I was looking for an all season high performance tire. I want something with good grip in dry weather, but wont put my car in a ditch if it rains. Falken Azenis were good, but they definately dont keep traction at all when its raining.

ilike2eatricers 06-28-04 03:13 PM

Toyo Proxes T1S 225/45/17 and 255/40/17. Super grippy tires with a very aggressive tread pattern.

SureShot 06-28-04 03:25 PM

My cheap tires Kuhmo 711's 225x50-16.
<$300 out the door.
Dry traction - good.
Wet traction - better.
Tread wear - fair (which is good for my driving)

Where did you buy the Azenis from? A tire place or a hookup of sorts?

David

Atticus 06-28-04 04:14 PM

Kuhmo 712's. They're decent.

RXSevenSymphonies 06-28-04 04:14 PM

I have tires that look like rubber, but they are actually made out of poop. When I get new rims I'll be getting Falken Azenis or Kumho MX's

razorback 06-28-04 04:29 PM

yokohama avs db decible s2 can be had for 103 a piece at tire rack. great gripping even decent grip in light snow (stated by company) tires look good and size is 225/50 r16 i believe. (not sure about the 50 have to check) work great and those are on all 4 corners.

Jodoolin 06-28-04 05:02 PM

Razor, I have the same Yoko's. $75.00 each at Discount Tire.

cbrinega 06-28-04 05:42 PM

BF Goodrich 215/50-16 (Y Speed Rated) g-Force KDW

They are a great set of tires for dry and wet. I'm sure they suck on the snow. I got them from The Tire Rack for about $120 each (Ultra High Performance Summer Tire).

I have Front and Rear Falken 512 Ziex H for less than 2 bilss Awesome deal

ddub 06-28-04 07:41 PM

I'm running Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's, 225/50ZR16 all around.

Don't remember cost, got them from discount tires mounted on rims I bought from bigwheels.net (there are pictures there in the gallery of some shots of the rims and tires).

Impressions, these tires are so awesome. They grip like no other, I love em.

I've got Falken FK-451's in 225/45ZR17and I love them. I just got back from a high performance driving school this weekend at Spokane Raceway Park and they were great. While they don't have the same grip as much softer tires, they have great wet grip and shuld last a lot longer. They're relatively inexpensive (a lot less than T1-S and less than ES-100 with same wear and similiar tread to both). They had good grip and predictable, controllable breakaway and they didn't seem to wear too badly from all the abuse I gave them. I'd reccomend them!

BLKTOPTRVL 06-28-04 08:51 PM

RE-71 ---- Best tires I have had for this car.

inflatablepets 06-28-04 08:54 PM

Awww. I got Accurets or somthing like that. 215/60/15

J-Rat 06-28-04 09:45 PM

Yokohama ES100s

n4ji 06-28-04 10:09 PM

Yokohama AVS ES100s. 205/55VR/16. Awesome tires in rain and sun!

ZoomZoomH 06-28-04 10:11 PM

Falken ZIEX ZE-512's for street (205/60/15 on stock rims)

Toyo Proxes RA-1 for track days (225/50/15 on vert rims) :)

both have been doing a wonderful job at what they're doing

trueimport 06-28-04 11:17 PM

Im running Bridgestone Potena SO3 size 255/35/18 front and back

SonicRaT 06-28-04 11:20 PM

Falken Azenis 205/55R16. Great when it's dry. If a squirrel pisses in the road, watch out! :)

7th Deadly Sin 06-28-04 11:56 PM

i have 2 sets of rims (GTU and FD) on the GTU rims im running BFGOODRICH COMP T/A 205/60 (all four tires) and on my FD im running 2 KUMHO ECSTA SUPRA 245/50 tires and the other 2 CHAMPIRO 215/55

BDoty311 06-29-04 12:39 AM

On the AE I'm running Kuhmo 712s, and I can't wait to get rid of them. Not very good at handling, accelerating, or braking. Squeak around turns very easily. Wet traction and tread life is good.

On the N/a I am running Yoko AVS ES100s, and I like those a lot. Good dry traction, and wet is good too. Can really leave you stuck in snow and ice though.

fusion-turbo 06-29-04 03:47 AM

Nitto 455's on stock AE 16" wheels. Handle alright, but its the only tire i've tried so far. Tread life is pretty decent, have had them for over a year and havent had to rotate the rear tires yet even with all the burnouts and fishtails. Agressive tire pattern too IMO.

Schrecken 06-29-04 03:56 AM

Falken Azenis 205/50/15... awesome dry weather tire!

topaz 06-29-04 05:36 AM

I bought the car (RX7 turbo II cabrio) with the following tyres:
Front: Dunlop 235/45/17
Rear: Dunlop 255/40/17

Although they look great on the car, they are way too wide for the stock engine and cluch. :(

Planning to put Pirelli P Zero Roso 225 front, 245 rear, and we will see... :)

Hmmm, I like 'em :D

They're in my sig below.

projekt 06-29-04 12:55 PM

i have falken 512s, and after a year (~12k) they're still pretty good. they do wear quickly though, and when they've worn the grip goes to hell. i think they have two stage rubber.

2ndGen.rocket 06-29-04 12:59 PM

Goodyear Eagle F1's
225/45 17
245/45 17

Haven't got this wheel setup mounted yet so I have no feelings about them, they are sitting in the garage right now. I'm pretty sure I'll be happy though, I've heard nothing but great comments about these tires.

grinchy 06-29-04 06:09 PM

just about done burning up a set of yoko avs db2 (original model). Lasted 30,000 miles. Going to replace with new new model db2. Very happy. Good grip dry, wet, and snow. Oh, and they're so quiet - even now when they are basically bald.

rosey 06-29-04 06:14 PM

Right now I have some econo-crap coninental all season tires, needless to say, they are complete crap. I would go with goodyear eagles if I had the money, but I'll probaly end up with some yoko es100's unless I'm feelin extra spendy.

WannaSeeMyWankel 06-29-04 06:56 PM

i got the Nitto Neo Gen's.....215/50 VR16
they are sticky as hell in dry and wet...i would recommend them to anyone....plus they have the coolest looking tread pattern out there

Johny zoom 06-29-04 08:33 PM

SupSai7 07-02-04 05:08 PM

225/50/16 Yoko AVS es 100...they look good and are cheap..:( thats about it. Treadwear sucks and they grip worse than my old 205/55/16 Potenza 910's did, worn...
