What does it take for Mid 12's?
Can it be done on the stock turbo?
My current mods: 3" DP/3" MP/3"Y/2.5" Dual/3" Straight mufflers Intake/Cone Filter in cold air box Boost gauge (lol) S-AFC. Solid engine mounts Cheap-ass 10 year old goodyears, on stock wheels Clutch that doesn't disengage properly when really hot What else do I need to get there? I've got a fuel pump and injectors on the way.. then I need more fuel before I can get more boost.. I put crushed ice on the intercooler when at the track/whatever.. this seems to help alot. Do I need to go to a front mount/different IC? |
OHHH
I've also got (on the way, not yet) open-vented wastegate.. so my exhaust flow should be pretty damn good, I think.. I don't think that my exhaust will be a restriction EVER again.. not with a stockport 13b-t. I'm getting the twin-scroll working again this weekend as well, because not having it = teh poop. the low end is SO WAY BETTER with it on, not in performance driving, just in regular putzing around. |
you will need a better turbo for mid 12's, and yes you will need a fmic
probably going to need around 320-350 hp for mid 12's stock turbo is only good for like 275 |
300rwhp with drag radials/slicks will be close.
front mount/slicks and good driving.

87 turbo II with a turbo back racing beat exsaust, bosh fule pump, 10mm plug wires and nkg plugs, permacool e-fan, hks BOV, racing beat springs with tokiko shocks, and a new 13b from atkins with a full street port and 3mm apex seals, apexi intake, hks ground kit with 8 in wide volk gt0u rims get me to 12.9 at 105mph...
High compression turbo-NA @ 12PSI and a good launch...
woooo hooo....I already have the N/A! Now all I need is to invest in a $3000 - $5000 turbo setup :(
How about to you take the TII motor out and drop it into a gutted 1st gen. I guarantee you will see 12's.
BNR Stage 4?
a better clutch and tires are gona be a start.
def need a better clutch, flywheel, fmic, some stif shocks so u dont do wheel hoops, better turbos, get a external wastegate with a purge guarantee it will turn heads, and port out your intake manifold, and get some wide wheels with tires that have crazy glue on them lol
and dont forget some weight reductions
no weight reduction aside from easy stuff (hatch mat removal. spare, etc).
Better clutch is on the way when this one fails. not till then. I did it twice last year, and I'm not looking foreward to a 3rd time. I guess I wasn't specific, but I want to be in the 12's with my 10AE :) |
a divided wastegate isn't really necessary with my setup.. it's open vented and seperate from the rest of the exhaust flow.. it's "almost" divided.
