Alright, well I started my car today and something is wrong, none of my warning light s are coming on. What do I have to do to fix this...

phoenix7 10-29-07 01:39 PM

? I don't get it. SO your car STARTS but the idiot lights DO NOT come on? Is there any way for you to be more specific about the problem and can you make the thread title a little less shitty?

DREYKO 10-29-07 01:44 PM

i have the same issue, with the key to on but the engine not running they do not all light up like they are supposed to.

hurleysurf24 10-29-07 01:53 PM

im pretty sure idiot lights not lighting up = good ...

KingofControl 10-29-07 02:33 PM

That is not good, rx-7's are suppose to show their lights so you know they work and etc. The title dont worry about it gee, just need to know how to fix them. The dash lights at the top center console are not lighting up when I turn the car on or even when I just turn the key, how would I fix that.

t24todd 10-29-07 02:34 PM

^ agreed. hope this really isnt a question..there is nothing to go by on this thread.

niburu 10-29-07 02:52 PM

most likely the ground is faulty or some other bit on the idiot light cluster crapped out on you, if feel you really need it either; test all the circuits, have it sent off to icemark for a rebuild or rip it out and put some real guages in

or if you know someone woth a working swap it over and see if it a faulty cluster or not

phoenix7 10-29-07 02:57 PM

i still don't know what the problem is. Once the car is on then the lights should be off. i don't get it. I assume it is NOT the same issue DREYKO is having. If it IS then best case scenario the rear harness came off. Go to a junkyard and get another one and test it out.

Key to ON...........all the warning lights come on.

Engine started................the only lights on should be if you left the hatch open, door open, emer brake on etc.

No lights on when the key is put to ON????? On a series four, the alternator white/black wire sends a ground to the alt relay in the CPU which in turn puts a gnd on the warning light circuit causing all the warning lights to come on.

Series five is similar but there is no CPU involved.

No lights when the key is to ON????? Possible bad solder joint in the warning light jack. Put the key to ON (series four). PUt a gnd on the WHITE/BLACK wire at the back of the alternator (plug off the alt). The warning lights should all come on.

Still no warning lights???? Pull the plug off the CPU and key to ON. Put a gnd on the wire b/t the CPU and the warning light clusted. See the right wire in the free online diagrams for a series four.

Not a series four? Shoulda said so in the first place.

Damn you bringing this up! I noticed on the ride home tonight that none of my lights were working as well, not even door ajar. They were working yesterday. I will investigate tomorrow :icon_tdow

Lol +1

with you series 4 guys... you need to take out the CPU and look at it. resolder some of the board and put that sucker back in. I had an FB01 CPU in my 87, then swapped out for an FB05 from an 88. the FB01 seem to have problems with soldering in my opinion.

Check all fuses first, before tearing half the car apart. I believe it is the meter or room fuse, that if blown, causes most if not all idiot lights to not go on. I've also noticed an almost dead battery will do the same, but that should be obvious.

RyosukeD 10-30-07 04:55 PM

Never mind, they came back on today. :lol2:

KingofControl 11-01-07 12:02 PM

It's probably my fuses thanks fellas.
