welding fan clutch?
has anyone tried to weld a fan clutch closed so it won't spin freely?
Why in the world would you want to do that?
because mine is slipping and 200 dollars cost a little too much for me right now, would anyone know if this is a bad idea?
i would just get a eletrical fan
Bad idea dont do it.
what could happen from doing this? also isn't buying electrical fans more than a clutch? cuz i would have to rebuild the alternator and do some rewiring as well
Dude, somebody has to have an extra clutch laying around.. Hell, I might have one.
i bought 2 of em and they were both slippin they felt hard at first but then they just slip so bad u can stop the fan with a pen
Yeah, been there done that. I probably have one (or 4 laying around that I KNOW are good). You can have one of them for the price of shipping.
how m uch do these run j-rat?
Does what run? The fans?
it'll be fine as long as you never go past 3000rpm.......
so if ur fan goes over 3rpm the fan will blow too hard?
ummm yea. Think about what would happen to the fan if you revved it to 7-8k?? im pretty sure ur fan will blow up :)
does anyone have an electric fan installed on their fc ro give me some feedback about it?
you can get an elctric fan cheap off another car in a junkyard, or look for the fan clutch, post in the for sale/wanted

i have a good fan with clutch that I can sell you for a fair price (30 shipped). dont weld it, if you do whenever you redline the car think of how fast the fan is spinning
( shattered plastic everywhere) |

find one on ebay for cheap... and you DO know that the clutch fan is supposed to slip some right?
EDIT: I would have sold you mine, but I just replaced an e-fan I had installed with it. I personaly like the clutch fan better (at least when it works) |
i would buy one from Sam, its only 30 bucks for one from him
well, i just installed an E- fan off of an old escort at the junkyard (10 bucks big woop) onto my buddies FC, and he says (with it wired on the "high" setting) that he gets about a 1/4 lower temps on his stock temp guage. easy, simple, and 10 bucks.
