WA Walbro255 gss341 vs gss342

Ok so I purchased a walbro 255 gss342 and it was supposedly for rx7 and rx8. I bought it as a kit and from amazon dot com so I hope it's real. But anyways everything I have read is about gss341 in s4's. I think the only difference is the outlet is 180 degrees opposite. Anyways my main question is will the GSS342 work for an 1988 na. All stock

Thanks in advance

What do you mean the outlet is 180 degrees opposite? Got a picture?

And I have to ask, why are you putting a walbro in an NA? I hope you have an adjustable FPR.

I mean, i have read it's an in line and no I don't have an adjustable fpr...I'll look into getting one of those, I got a walbro because my fuel pump is going out and a new oem on mazdatrix was 300 bucks vs the walbro for 100 somethin.

It's going to cost you power/mileage unless you get an FPR (more $) that can bypass enough flow to keep fuel pressure at stock levels. A Walbro 255 flows about 3x more fuel than most NAs will ever need. I'd suggest a new/used NA, TII or even FD pump, since they won't jack up the fuel pressure.

As far as mounting, if it looks like the one below, it should mount fine in the stock fuel pump assembly. It's been awhile since I mounted one, and I think mine was a GSS-341, but it looks correct to me.

Hmmm I'll look into cost of an fpr and an fd fuel pump lol I already have the pump so it might be a PITA to return and pay more for an fd when I could just buy a fpr.

So I've searched this section but not much info came up. I know this thread is pretty old but somewhat pertinent to my situation so I didn't feel it important enough to start a new thread.

I was given a GSS342 walbro, full kit(sock, pig tail, etc). Is it compatible with an s4 t2? Or can I ONLY use a walbro gss341 in regards to the S4?

Most of the info is here;

Walbro Fuel Pump - Walbro 255LPH / OE Fuel Pump

Yes there is a difference between the S4 (offset) and the S5/FD (in-line) pumps.

Auto Performance Engineering - Walbro fuel pumps specs

As well as the installation kits.
