Video of my Rx7

Well this is my Rx7 its a 1988 Se with T2 hood and S5 body conversion(I DO KNOW I NEED PAINT) so the engine in it has 66k miles on it and been seting for 2 years.. so i put it in(did the swap alone and in 15) and got it running farily good.. well this is the first time reving it over redline.. so i think the smoke is just from not being run alot.... also itz stock exhaust with howwled out cats...

tell me what you think of her

keep in mind in 15 and doing all the work alone

Sounds like the idle is pulsing, is your tps in good shape?

felixwankel88 11-30-04 04:10 PM

i just adjusted the
TPS to 1volt and its still suring... but it sound alot smother in the high rpms,..... any ideas on ther surging idle

13bpower 11-30-04 04:21 PM

Your car is very patriotic. Red, White and Blue..... and black but who cares about that.

Your TPS need some tinkering or replacing.

Blade8r 11-30-04 04:21 PM

why not set the tps at the ecu level of 1 volt. try to see if changing out the spark plugs and spark plug cables helps out your ride at all. cause that sounds bad really.

vipers 11-30-04 04:48 PM

very good job for only being 15! its coming a long way!! hope to see it w/ paint on it someday!! what color are you painting it?

felixwankel88 11-30-04 04:58 PM

im painting it white... it has brand new plugs and wires...

mabee a new o2 sensor????????

Parastie 11-30-04 05:11 PM

Yay! It runs! LoL

The O2 sensor isn't a bad idea, just not sure if it'll help the idle.

Falcoms 11-30-04 05:22 PM

^ Shouldn't effect the idle. From what I've read here, the car dosen't go into closed loop until crusing on the highway, which invalidates the possibility of it being the o2 sensor

rotaryrudy 11-30-04 05:27 PM

sounds alright just needs alittle more work

O2 sensor is ignored at idle.
Hell, you can go ahead and unplug it.

BlaCkPlaGUE 11-30-04 05:41 PM

man we've been over this, and im telling you, when I installed my new o2 sensor it made a difference in how rich it ran AT IDLE! there was a few others that experienced the same thing..

anyways. HOld the tps ALL the way in with your finger (fingers if s5) and then put it at 1/4 throttle. Hold it there.

Does it still surge?

If it does not, then your tps will need replacing. Try this and get back to us.

Wideband testing says you're wrong.
How do you know it changed how rich it ran? Smell? Pretty poor indicator.

BlaCkPlaGUE 11-30-04 05:48 PM

it was smell, and even though its not the best indicator, it IS an indicator.

inflatablepets 11-30-04 06:08 PM

I think the TPS might be FUBAR'ed.

felixwankel88 11-30-04 06:15 PM

yeah i think i will try a new TPS and o2 sensor

KauaiRotary7 11-30-04 06:46 PM

your car is an '88? I've got an '88 GTU. When i watchec the vid, at first it sounded just like my car. i've only got header, straight pipes and an APEX-i Turbo app exhaust. It's a great car, good job on your's!

felixwankel88 11-30-04 07:26 PM

yes itz a 1988

VX1kFILMER 11-30-04 07:26 PM

it finally runs after 2 years of hard work ey?

drcoopster 11-30-04 08:00 PM

Sharp sound--idle isn't perfect but at least it idles. My 86 n/a ends with a bit of a deeper sound. Stock exhaust, including cats: http://www.drcoopster.com/mazda/startup.mp3

The smoke is a tad worrisome, to me, at least.

felixwankel88 11-30-04 08:01 PM

vx i got it last x mas so itz like 1 year

88t2romad 11-30-04 10:36 PM

:drool1: ahhh, the lovely can clinking sound of a rotary with strait exhaust!

you all know you love it!

IaMtHeRuThLeSs1 11-30-04 10:46 PM

You're doing a damn fine job for only being 15. awesome man.

RXciting 11-30-04 10:50 PM

Nice job, still in need of some TLC though. Keep it up!!

KingCobraV9 11-30-04 11:10 PM

god you hit the starter and it went brap brap brap brap brap then started.... i almost died i love that sound. but ya the idle isnt so smooth. try and change the tps and see what that does to it. if not i dunno. just start it in your driveway and make more vids i love that sound lol
