very low idle, then it dies out???/

88 t2 that starts right up, but has a bad idle, it idles at like 100-250rpms and dies out. any ideas what it could be? once the car is going pulls very strong and a/f ratio seems good also good boost.

I'm not real edimacated on turbo's but it could be the BAC valve, or that you just need to set your idle up.

how do you set your idle?

Black13B 05-16-03 11:28 PM

adjust the TPS..

in this situation i would be suspicious of the BAC

let it idle, and while its idling, unplug the BAC and see if it dies instantly or keeps on puttering..

if it dies right away, your BAC is still somewhat functional if not fully..

Some times youll look down and find that the stock vacume hose to the pressure sensor has pulled off. This will cause the engine to run fine at high rpms but idle crappy and possibly die its a pretty strong vacume. Ive done it a few times and sat there for minutes adjusted the bcv valve and the r/l screw next to the pressure sensor only to find the hose came off.

i am thinking the idle need to be adjusted. cause the idle is smooth if the gas petal is held a little bit. if i hold it at 800 rpms it idles fine with no lumps.
