update on rebuild - broken in now
 

alright, now that my rebuild is broken in, i can drive it a bit more sporadic now. again, i'd like to thank all those who helped me get this finished. parts suppliers, knowledge/advice buds, BEN!, and definitely the forum for its invaluable information. i would have definitely been lost without you guys giving me info.

stats:
running an s5 block with s4 middle iron and front cover.
everything else is s4 still.
rotary aviation basic kit with their apex seals.
K&N cone filter
downpipe to presilencer to bonez hi-flo cat, split to 2 RP catbacks (all piping is 2 1/2 inches).

i've been running premix since the beginning of this engines life. although sometimes i get kinda tired of having to put in 2-stroke everytime i gas up, i feel that if my engine will be in better shape for a longer period of time, i guess its worth it.

the power is starting to come back very nicely and just had my first real kill with this engine. a late 90s celica gt.

thanks again for the use of the pre-cat, i will be installing it this weekend to set up for my next run at the smog machine. i would have put it on last weekend but my brother was visiting from the bay area.

premixing is a bit of a PITA but once you have a routine for it it is almost not even an issue, usually i have my oil in the tank before the CC authorization is even finished and ready to pump the gas. i always adamately say it is an invaluable thing to do for your engine after seeing the results myself.

Hah! The workin progress is almost done :D All you need now is paint and it will be good as new!

yea, paint!. i got a huge (prob 2.5 inches long and deep) scratch on my driver door last night from a gate. i parked next to a garbage thingy with those swingy gates. it was windy and when i came out of my friend's place, the gate had swung open and gave a pretty good whack to my door. im thinking of prepping my car during my spring break. at least it'll be one color even though it might not be pretty.

i wouldn't bother prepping it until it is ready for paint, no point in having to do the prep work twice because it will need to be cleaned up again before the paint can be applied.

good point. i'll prob just used some paint to cover up the scratch then. i can see metal.
