Tps question
I have an 89 t2. A while back I bought one from a friend who had one left over from a jdm engine, but the car wouldn't even start with it on my engine. Could it be bad as well or are they not compatible with usdm engines?

Not sure about compatibility but the TPS I have is a part number ewt-aoa 88032. A first gen has the same markings I just switched brackets. My guess is the same. Have you tested and set it? Specs to around 1k ohms sweeping to around 4.5k ohms. Set to 1vdc on a warm engine.

You can set an s4, but not the s5.

I'll check that tomorrow. Is it still 1k ohms?

Try 1 volt w/key to on and engine warmed up after a 20 minute drive.

The more I think about adjusting the Tps on an s5, it's contradictory to the factory service manual. It's very clear about not adjusting them and there are no specs for it.

That is a very good question. If it were supposed to be adjusted, wouldn't there be specs in the FSM? A trusted friend and experienced engine builder told me not to adjust it. Not only him, but a lot of experienced rotary people as well. So is mazda, the FSM and individuals that I trust wrong? Where can I find an adjustment at, is it on here or is there a link?

You must have misunderstood. Again, there are two ranges and one has an auto adjust feature while the narrow range does not. The pinout diagram lists the spec for each pin and it most certainly provides a range.

Thank you for the link.
