I'm going to wisco to check out the FC today and will be performing the compression test using the tester. I won't be meeting him at the house so I will need to take my own tools. what other things do i need besides spark plug socket rench and a 19mm socket/rachet? and what size is the spark plug on the FC? Thanks in advance.

 

You only need a spakplug socket and a standard compression tester without the check valve on it. Or you will have to push the le bleadoff valve of you comp tester

do i wanna test when the engine is warm or cold?

 

cold with the throttle body open. you can use either trailling or leading holes, doesn't matter, you get the same reading.

 

warm should be lower that cold.

there was a thread on here about a poor mans compression test... basically pulling the plugs and egi and listening to the compression hisses... but you can get a cheap compression tester at harbor freight... spark plug socket, 3/8 ratchet and you should be set

 

There is a write up on exactly how to do it in your FSM. It says you want to have your engine at normal operating temp too btw. If you buy a Compression tester from say advance make sure you hold down the relief valve THE WHOLE TIME! basically you will compression test by "Battery Power" So make sure you have a good connection and strong battery.

1) Remove plugs (All you need is to remove One per rotor, of course the top ones are the easiest)
2) They Reco to Disconnect the Leading and trailing coils from the lines
3) They also Reco to Disconnect power to Fuel Pump
4) And Disconnect Crank Angel Sensor
5) Screw in the compression tester HOLD THE RELIEF BUTTON DOWN and have someone crank the engine you should watch for at least THREE "pulses" one for each side of the rotor PER ROTOR...it will sound like 3 WOOSH WOOSH WOOSH
6) Do the next Rotor

If your numbers are low or CHANGE say the first and second woosh are 90 and the third is say 60 you have a problem

If you have 3 wooshes all the same and on both rotors but the numbers are low... dont worry as long as they are all the same you MIGHT BE OK...
That could be caused by the fact that your battery isnt very strong or the terminals are not connected properly as in my first test case. I pulled 60's then I found out my negative was barely on the battery then I pulled 90's so I was happy.
