Took off my oil pan today and found this

I took off my oil pan to install an oil pan brace and I found this. Ive yet fully disassemble a rotary engine so I am at a loss on what it is , and it has me scared that I will need an early rebuild.

Looks like an eccentric shaft oil jet. Have you had loss of oil pressure?
I can only guess it's the middle one and fell down the bore in the intermediate housing. |
that's what I thought is might be, but shouldnt it have a hole through it? My oil pressure is good.

If this is a 2nd gen engine its the oil pump set screw...
|
Thanks! That is exactly what it looks like, but what is its purpose? Can i just take off the front cover to replace it?

Turblown's got it right.
From the FSM: http://homepage.mac.com/jolocho/oilpump.gif The set screw keeps the middle plate (7) from turning. Oil pump wouldn't pump very well if it does. |
How 'bout that. I bought a junkyard engine years ago and found the same thing laying in the pan. It needs to be staked into the oilpump body so it won't come out.
