Too Rich?

As my car goes back together I am stepping up the fuel system to prepare for future mods. As my finances stand I can only purchase a few parts as this goes back together.

My question is am I going to be running too rich with a Walbro 255lph pump and 720cc secondaries in collaboration with my intake and exhuast. I can afford these two parts but not anything to tune (S-AFC) them. While the car is apart I'd rather replace the injectors now than later. Please advise.

More than likely you will be running rich. Rich is better than lean though. Just save up and get the s-afc after you get the car back together. Just my thoughts.

Why does everone seem to think that an S-AFC is a replacement for fuel mods?

Rich is better than lean, however...

Can you afford the gas? On my vert with with rebuilt, streetported engine, stock injectors and stock fuel pump, I was only getting 6-8 miles to the gallon (don't know why it was running so rich). I had to get the S-AFC installed so I could lean it out just to be able to drive it and break in the engine.

I thought the original poster wanted to do the fuel mods. I used one to lean out my engine. I have a Walboro and 720's to put in mine but I don't see the point just yet if I'm running extremely rich.

um, replacement??? I said I needed it to control my 720s, not to replace them, hope that comment wasn't towards me...

It was towards Ryde Or Die... but I guess i was misinterpreting his post.

I guess so. I mean get the pump and injectors like he plans, save up and then add the s-afc as well. Just the drive the car rich if he has to to be safe until he can afford the s-afc.

Frank,

You can always leave the car parked till you get the S-AFC to control your injectors. The pumps is a must with the exhaust you have, injectors are a nice plus while I am rebuilding your car.

Since $ are limited you could go to a blood bank and/or sperm bank and make some fast cash.:mspank: :crzyeye:

I would get the parts and wait for the S-AFC, then I would tune and drive the daylight out of her.

what is a "s-afc" and is one important to a N/A model? are there any other ways to lean out a N/A without purchasing one of these s-afc's? thanks!

Not just rich, very rich! Black smoke rich probably. That's about 15% more fuel than the ECU thinks it's injecting, probably more with the pump. You'll lose a fair bit of power running that rich, making extra boost pointless. Leave the injectors until you can afford the S-AFC (and lay off the boost), but do the pump. :)
