Tii doors are broken need help!

87 tii, the passenger door won't open from the outside. the handle comes up but does nothing to the door.
as for the driverside door, it works fine except that it can't be locked... when locked I have to roll down the window and use a coat hanger to push down on something in the door (I don't know what it is) and open it...

any idea what it could be... I was thinking problably the little white clips in the door are broken, but I'm not sure...

any help would be great

I had the same exact thing happen to me on the passanger door. I took of the door panel and there is a little spring on the far right that was broken on mine. I found one close to it and put it in its place and it works like a charm. Sorry I cant be more specific.. BTW i have an 87 TII too

Take the door panels off and take a look. What ever is wrong, it will be very obvious. There is not much to the system. The Passenger door probably broke in 2. It happens alot on our old cars. You most likely need a new/used handle.

All you need to do this is a couple screw drivers, 12mm socket and some patcients.

It sounds like the outside handle is broken.

Do you have power locks?  If so, the power actuator could be seized.
If not, it could be a loose linkage.

BTW, the spring thing that rx7rider87 mention is a fix if both outside and inside door handles don't work.  I don't think it applies to this case.

It could just be a door rod clip or something. You can pick them up at autozone for cheap. The play in the door rods is adjustable, too. I had to adjust the play in the door lock rod to get mine to lock and unlock.
