if you're coming out tomorrow bring a pair. personally i hate driving my car at night, though i love the color and clarity i hate the pattern.

NoRotor,NoMotor 05-12-06 02:20 PM

sorry to sound like a noob, but if you put h3 amber bulbs in your headlights if they fit some how, are they legal?

RotaryEvolution 05-12-06 03:01 PM

nope, putting anything aside from the OE sealed beams on the car is illegal.

Actually you can change the housings and use a "like" light source of like wattage now as long as the housing meets SAE93 or SAE94 (I don't remember which) standards. The Feds changed the rules a few years back.

So with those DOT housings you could in theory upgrade your lights to H4 lights legally.

However some states (and you'd have to check your local rules/stautes to know) say that any lighting change is illegal (including just adding extra lights like fog lights or neon underbody lighting).

except the Cibie housings are not SAE 94/ DOT legal and are E code housings (wrong pattern for use in North America).

As far as my kits:

I am not selling the HID kits or housings anymore, but might consider it if there is enough demand. Last fall when I was looking at my sales of them, I was only selling about 1 every other month... so it made it hard to justify keeping them instock.

Just got a 88 vert and drive at night from work and love to upgrade just like to know how much $. thanks Icemark

Would you be willing to do a group buy of sorts, and take deposits?

get me 5 people that want to do either DOT housings, or five people that want HID kits and I will make either of them available again with no deposit.

JSmith0101 05-02-08 09:29 PM

Buy from Icemark!

I had his kit on my FC, with his housings. Just awesome.

I'm now putting them in the FB, because icemark kicks ass.

SmokinRx-7 05-03-08 12:57 AM

which ones did u get best results with? wat exact parts were they? did u have to do any extra wiring or mods to make them fit? where did u get the parts?

Do you happen to have the pricing on both of those? What brand are the HID kits?

ColumbusTurboTwo 05-03-08 05:46 PM

Hey guys, I am the first one to advocate for HID. My Daily driver is an '06 civic (stock, thanks!). Well stock except for I put HID's in. Holly hell it is the best thing I have spent my money on.

However, I have heard bad things about HIDs in pop up headlights. I understand the HID bulbs do not like to be jarred around when they are popping up and down, which leads to very premature failure.

Just a heads up.

309 05-04-08 05:16 PM

well, i would be one of those 5 people you would need to get them back in stock to sell. ill need the whole kit with bulb.
not quite sure the difference is between the DOT housing and the HID kit. someone can enlighten me on this, thanks.
roughly what will be the price on these?

Tatakai 05-04-08 11:00 PM

+1 to group buy, depending on the price.

The DOT Housing would be the glass that the bulb resides in. The HID kit is replacing your normal light bulb with a HID light. You HAVE TO use a different housing in order to put HID's on an FC because the FC uses a sealed light housing and you cannot replace the bulb to an HID.

Usually HID kits do not include the Housing...but who knows IceMark could be that sweet

Tatakai 05-04-08 11:30 PM

oh, a question just to put out there and/or for icemark;

has anyone tried HID's in "Projector" replacement square headlights? looks like instead of the reflector center peice is a single projector. here's some quick ebay pics.

oic, then i would need both the HID kit AND the DOT housing for me to replace the whole headlight.
thanks for that info farberio.

IceMarks, mark me down for 1 of each.
So far we got 2 ppl for this, at least 3 more people is what we need for this to make it happen..anyone else?

That's only an issue when the light is warming up or cooling off. We can make the lights pop up without the lights turning on to prevent this. Also, think about the fact that any car in motion is already creating a jarring environment for the lights (unless you live somewhere where they keep roads in perfect condition).

I am considerable if price is reasonable. Though I can get Hella housing (Dot legal ones) with H4 Bulbs for less then $140 a pair at http://www.rallylights.com/hella/165mm_lo.asp

again the Hella's are E code lights and not legal for on road use in North America.

But the DOT/SAE 94 legal housings I was selling were $40 a set.

farberio 05-05-08 12:31 PM

From the website.

"NEW Free Form DOT and ECE Legal HIGH/LOW BEAM Lamp Kits

Two 165mm Rectangular FF DOT/ECE Conversion Hi/Lo Beam Headlamps with Bulbs, Rubber Boots and Adapters. These lamps are packaged with 60/55w bulbs. The following kits inlcude both the stock bulb and the upgrade bulbs listed. Any bulb substitution other than 60/55w will negate DOT and ECE approval. "

Either way $40 a set are not that bad. What were the hids going for?
