tachometer problems...

So I have a freshly rebuilt engine and I've been trying to get it going properly. Yesterday I had the engine in and running, but no idle, but had clutch problems. Today the engine will no longer start, and when it is turned over the tachometer does not read anything. Also it does not sound as if there is any ignition in the engine. I have tried the fuel cut trick to getting the car going, it's how I got it running yesterday, but it doesn't seem effective. Any help would be greatly appreciated

What would cause the trailing coils not to fire?

Edit:
Also I just noticed that my feul injectors don't seem to be making a noise when I turn my car to the on position like they used to... or at least I think it was the injectors that made that ticking noise.
