You don't need the air pump if you have an S4 aslong as you don't have cats but on an S5 you need it to operate the VDI and auxilary ports. Also if you have gutted the cats and you have an S4 your ports may not open properly now.

I will soon have a straigh through custom exhaust, (no cats) on my TII, should I remove the air pump entirely?

The previous owner has the belt taken off, and the line running to the stock cat has sections that were taken out.

What to do?

Hmm, you "no Air" guys make me laugh... You know that at temps above 101F your brain starts frying and you loose brain cells, right???

Of course that also explains a lot of why some people post what they do here.

Yep, Air conditioning keeps people smarter (and cooler).

Heck there are times when I drive my 'vert with the roof down and the air condition cranked on full.

A/C is a waste of space up north here where we only have summer for two days of the year

Oh, I'm pretty sure that 101F is body temp, not ambient

There are two main ways. A pre-silencer or electric/neumatic actuation.

you can rig the airpump to control the 6 ports, this is really easy, only cost about $5 in parts from homedepot. You need a ball valve (METAL), preferably threaded, then find some threaded hose barbs that fit, find a vac hose barb and jam that into the rubber hose and epoxy it in place. put the ball valve at the end of the hose, and get someone to hold the car around 3500rpm and adjust the ball valve until you see the ports open, and tada you're done

Here's a pic of the ball valve fully assembled, behind it is the hose from the airpump with the barb attached (the clear wire goes to the 5&6 port actuators) Just turn the red dial to adjust

There's a pic of it going to the airpump, I used lots of electrical tape as I sort of rigged mine up more than I had to hehehe

Where does the air exhaust to after passing that adjustable valve that you have got there?
