stock stereo antenna question....
so i was bored today and i decided to take my interior apart today....
when i was doing that i found that there were 2 antenna wires plugging into the stock stereo. why? Brian |
I have that too
|
the male connector is for the rear antenna. The other female connector is for the front glass.
|
didnt know there was an antenna in the front glass.... can i completely remove one of them for an aftermarket replacement stereo? also is there an aftermarket that has both of them?
Brian |
You should be able to us either one. I'm currently using the one for the back but I'm going to be changing it to the one in the front window (the back ones hole is getting filled in)
|
I believe that all aftermarkets only support a single antenna, and why would you use the antenna anyway? Cd's or mp3's are all a driver need...but anyway you will also need a relay switch to get the rear antenna to go up properly.
|
yeah im hoping to find a good aftermarket with a usb port on front..... long live ipod. i just like everything to work. whether i use it or not... haha i know. anyone know of a good aftermarket stereo with a usb port on the front?

alpine!!!
and i think( not sure) you can only use the antenna on the back because of the plug in... unless you get a dif. plug in to connect to windshield antenna...dunno.. anyway, if you want radio you def. need the antenna.. i couldnt pick nothin up without it. |
I had to replace the power antenna. I just got a stubby antenna (non-powered). Now when i goto turn on the stock radio, it just clicks (I can hear it turn on from the small thump fromt he speakers) but it wont' do anything else. The display doesn't show anything and no sound comes out of the speakers. I removed the whole antenna and relay. Does the radio require the relay to turn on properly?
