All the speakers in some 7's are pre-amps on them. If they are still installed then they can cause the popping problem. Another thing can be the speakers might be on their way out. You can check that with an ohm meter. I put in an aftermarket stereo and ran all new speaker wire so I can preserve the old equipment just incase I needed to put it back in. It took a few hours to run all new speaker wire and to hide it.

A bad ground can make speakers pop, see if you can look over the wires.

where's the ground for the headunit at? You could get picking up a ground loop and some excess noise. Does the speed of the popping increase with rpm's?

if you want to get an aftermarket stereo to work to its full potential on a seven than i would seriously suggest that you redo all the speaker wiring with 16-14 guage, good stuff, and make sure the ground is on something good, and really make sure that its not on a shitty frame peice (the ground). if its still popping, check the speakers. anyother questions, PM me, im pretty good with stereo systems

run new wires...this would bypass any factory amps....and gives you new wires...which I'd recommend anyway...especially if you're going to put new speakers in, in the future. Should only take about an hour.
