Stereo Help

i just got a new alpine stereo, dash kit, and smart cable wiring harness today. got the dash kit together, soldered the wires from the smart cable (mazda harness-into-universal) to the wiring harness for the deck. turn it on, lights up great. no sound. i cant figure out whats wrong. i dont care about the antenna i hate the radio but i would like some sound damn it. its really frusterating. i did a search but didnt find the info i was looking for. i commute every day and need some kind of sound to stay sane. any help is appreciated. also i did go over the wires and found that there are more wires going in to the mazda harness than coming out of the smart cable, and i am aware of the factory amp and was wondering how to bypass it. its a 91 vert, that came stock with the pioneer amp and the combo CD/Tape deck.

thank you

sorry. i searched again and found the problem. i had the illumination wires soldered to some speaker wires. i chopped the wires and the front speakers work. any way to get the factory 3.5inch sub whatevers behind the seats to work? its not much bass i know, but more than the front components have. thanks

does the new harness have a (blue remote wire?) Some cars have a factory amplifier or(amps) for the rear subs..............Do U have speakers in the headrests? I'll check on the wiring color code and let ya know.....

Ok here is where your at, your 91 convert if it still has it's orignal seats should have speakers in the headrest. As you already know the factory amp powers these speakers and the rest of the speakers in the car as well, to use these factlry speaker wire plugs (the stock wire that connects to the speaker) you have to use the stock amp. If you want to by pass the amp then you will have to run your own wires to the speakers. It's not a bad idea to to this anyway as the stock wiring can get pretty thin at times, your own run 14ga wire will sound wonderful.

Any thoughts on what you can do for rear sound for an 88 vert?

I'm pondering finding the parts to do the headrest speakers but it seems this is going to be painful
