Just to give additional reference, my'87 TII has the 5th oldest VIN in the US according to TurboTed's registry. And it has an aluminum hood. So, age of the car isn't the case. It just seems to be a randum thing.

And, related, stock Vert hoods are lighter than stock TII hoods in all cases.

One more comment regarding " i let a few girls sit on my hood and well, it isnt perfect anymore"

So, I assume those girls were Two Tons of Fun? :)

Maybe a shortage of aluminum? That's my guess.

Material shortages happen, regardless of the size of company. Maybe they hit some material ruts and their backup was steel.

Random shit like that doesn't just happen, they regulate these things lol
