Sprint RE car wont start
Sup ya, so today i finished setting up ,u wiring and ecu, new spark plugs, map sensor connected, fuel pump wired, LS coils, ect. i updated my ecu firmware, loaded the S5 base map, ignition settings to direct spark for the LS coils, and car wont start :( doesnt even sound like it wants to start. i pulled the spark plugs to see if it was flooded, and no. i used a simple light tester on the spark plug cables and there is power coming thru. i tried turning the CAS and nothing, so i tired starting fluid thinking maybe theres no fuel. AND nothing!! is there something im missing?
SPECS. Jspec S5 swap, knight sports hybrid turbo, greeddy top mount, uknown if ported or not, stock injectors, omp blocked off, emissions blocked off, LS coil packs. |
Is it cranking
|
..try the Haltech section for any info?
|
Post map.
Did you set base timing? I'd suggest downloading the manual and using the Quick Start Process. |
yes it cranks, on my laptop it shows rpm go to 280 when cranking, tps is showing, vacuum pressure too. i didnt know we had a haltech section, i will go check that out. and what d you mean base timing?
|
also there are 2 ground wires, black and black with white, one goes to the chassis and the other to the battery, as of now they both are grounded to the chassis, any reason why one has to go to the battery?
|
You need to set base timing bro. Read the manual.
Lock timing at -5* BTDC, Hook up a timing light to L1, line the pulley mark up. |
oh thats right! im looking at my main pulley and theres to notches on it, how do i know ich is -5 or -20? getting a timing light is going to be hard, ill see of an auto parts store has one.
|
i have the manual too, and i been going thru it. what do you mean by the quick start process?
|
1 Attachment(s)
here is the base tune im using.
|
checked the cas and its aligned right, just need the timing light to get it spot on, also checked my injectors and they are spot on.

yeah stock pulley, i checked it out and i got it adjusted right. im thinking i connected the injection order wrong cause it kind of floods when i try to start it, motor is in unknown condition.. but when i deflood it compression sounds loud and constant
|
You can use a continuity test to verify you have the injector clip connected to the correct injector.
|
Ok so i found out i have no spark. I connect all the wires to spark plus amd sat all 4 one by one on the manifold, nothing. My ls coils are brand new. So.i tried thpse simple tester pens. And only 2 has power but very weak. I had to look.in the pen to see the light super dimmed. Those 2 are my leading cables right

The B/Y wires to the coils power the coils w/key to on, so check this aspect. The coils need to be bolted cleanly to the fender to be grounded, otherwise they don't work. The Green/Yellow wire at the lead coil is the trigger wire. W/key to on the voltage alternates between two values (0 volts and 5 volts) as the main pulley is rotated by hand (rotating the alternator pulley helps to rotate the main pulley).

i thought LS coils have the ground in a wire?
Didn't catch the fact that you had aftermarket items. You need to verify that the ECU is trying to trigger the coils in addition to rechecking the coil wiring. |

Do you know if the injectors are firing?

Now that I'm thinking about it, check wiring to the coils. If you used the wire diagram on this forum, it's incorrect. Double check it.
