Speedometer cable

My speedo cable disconnected while I was driving and dragged for a little bit. I was curious as to how the cable is supposed to look (transmission end) becuase even with it screwed in my speedometer still doesnt read.

It may have pulled away from the back of the speedometer. I have seen that before.

the tranny end should have a gear.....try pulling the tranny end out and rotate the gear a bit while pushing it into the cable, as J-rat said, it can slip out of the gauge easily and since the gauge end is square, you'll need to turn it and push it in to get the gauge end back into the gauge

I took This with a Webcam But its Good enough to see what the end Of the Cable looks like this goes inside your Tranny and the Cable Has a Little Shaft with a pivit on the end and slips Right in. to Test the Cable I just spin the Gear with the Cable connected and you will see the Mph Go up if not then it is Broke!.... I hope this Helps you

I had my cable come off when driving. It came undone at the threaded end of the speedometer gear. There should be something sticking out of the end of the cable, into the middle of the threaded nut part on the end of the speedometer cable. When mine dragged on the ground that part broke off. A new cable fixed the problem. Check the end of the cable for the tab thingy that engages the gear to connect it to the cable.

Get a new cable. If it dragged on the ground the end broke off and your actual cable(inside the liner) slid out somewhere while you were driving. Happened to me.
