A good used one is the way to go. The cable isn't likely to fail unless it falls out.

Not nesecarily, i snapped the stock one like a twig when I first installed my act 6 puck. I picked up a replacement from advanced auto for like $17 and we will see how she holds up once I get this thing back together.

Haha re-reading it I realize that it sounds a little different than what really happened, the actual rotating cable inside snapped but it snapped hard! I was taking a turn at maybe 35 and I shifted into second and heard something that sounded like a gunshot, shortly thereafter I heard this tinkling sound like when a seatbelt is out the door and then I noticed my speedo said 0 =( My guess is the tranny mounts arent in very good shape anymore and they dont like the 6 puck very much, the car was garaged about a week and half later for a complete overhaul which I have yet to finish.

Oh, okay. That makes a little more sense now. Yeah, 6-pucks are harsh little beasts. I have one in my base, I know. Takes a bit of getting used to.

You can also go for the ones on eBay. They'll be like $20 or so.
