what color smoke it is?

if white its moisture.. and if its black its your oil is leaking into your exhaust.

91na 12-03-07 02:12 AM

its white so how do i get rid of it and its grey so what can that result in

Aiden671 12-03-07 02:23 AM

SirCygnus 12-03-07 09:53 AM

ride a bike. if you dont know how to troubleshoot, you shouldn't even have a rx7.

Is the white smoke constantly coming out? Even after 15 minutes of driving?

thebigbluecan 12-03-07 10:57 AM

does it smell sweet?

91na 12-03-07 11:15 AM

no it actually stinks and it happens after i start the car i mean even my nieghbors called the fire department on me cause tey thought my garage was on fire

91na 12-03-07 11:16 AM

sircygnus im sorry that were not all car smart when were first born u really should just lay off my back

farberio 12-03-07 11:37 AM

If its only when you start the car, thats normal. The best thing to do is to drive the car hard on the way to the tester so its very hot. Then get it tested. If you fail the test replace your cat converter.

91na 12-03-07 01:04 PM

ok but wouldnt i be able to tell the same if i take off the exhaust from the header

farberio 12-03-07 02:30 PM

1) Unless your car is not stock, you don't have a header. You have an Exhaust Manifold
2) No, if you take off the exhaust from the manifold all you will have is a loud exhaust. You will also create leaks in the exhaust from moving it around.

3) If you are super worried, you will want to replace everything from the manifold back. At this point its how much do you want to spend?

91na 12-03-07 02:33 PM

well the car is stock right now so thats out i just talk to the guy i bought it from he said something in the engine is bad but hes not sure what he said also that it eats alot of oil so what could be wrong with it. this is my 2nd car i had a 240sx that didnt like and i bought this for 600

bktrucks 12-03-07 03:07 PM

For 6 hundred it will need work. Its probably the oil o rings. I would buy any 91 for 600 running or not. If you cant afford to fix it you can make a grand selling parts off it.

yozsi 12-03-07 03:09 PM

If the smoke burns blueish white you are burning oil and your oil control rings are prolly shot, if its really white smoke and it smells sweet you are burning coolant and the housing seals are probably shot. both require the engine to be disassembled. Grayish smoke when you fist have the car running is normal, oh and gas burns black, oil is blueish white, coolant is white and sweet, and normal combustion is gray.

When you are done reading, scour this site:
http://www.aaroncake.net/RX-7/tech.htm

Then.. check my sig.. and scour those links. Then search if you have questions after that.

LOL, i was reading this thread and like the first 10 posts were really really short.....hahaha

Anyway yes, check out Aaroncake's threads as he is a rotary god but if you're not down with that, the easiest start would be to check out your catalytic converter, if you dont know what a catalytic converter is.....then there's something wrong with you. Check your spark plugs to make sure most of the fuel is getting burnt, plug wires compression check, change fluids, check all of your Emissions stuff under the hood, you know smog pump vac lines and all that other fun stuff. If you're still having problems buy an Owners manual and take it to a smog shop.
