Slow power windows

My windows are operating slowly. If I connect a battery directly to the PW motor they work fine. I found a mod on this site that by adding relays you apply battery voltage directly to the motor without going thru the factory window switches, which should fix the priblem,
However I also see where Autoloc sell a one touch system that you can add part # wc2000. Here's the link

My question is, does the power to operate the motors go thru the factory swiches, same as stock, or do the switches simply operate a relay or some solid state device, & the power for the motors is applied directly.
Thanks for any input.

Without seeing a wiring diagram, it's hard to say. I wired in relays in my windows and was instantly satisfied! However, do not neglect to mount them in a position to where water can get in them. Make sure you get the relays with the little tab so you can screw them to the inside of the door. Otherwise, water can get in the relays and rust the internals out. I got stuck in the rain with a window down because of it.

Use instead of the Relay Mod, NOT with the Relay Mod

I downloaded the instructions. It looks as if the unit would essentially replace the relays in the 'relay mod'.

One caution for those of us with existing relay mod systems: this unit has a load sensor that detects overloading the motor . It keeps you from cutting off your hand, your dog's head, your G/F boobs :titty: or anything else that can get rolled up in the window! It must be connected directly to the window motors, or it cannot sense the load. You MUST remove the relays you added to keep everything playing nice and safe.

On another note: I used 4 heavy duty relays on my relay mod. They cost +/-$5 each. $20 for the relay mod. I would rather have this unit for the slight extra money.

Great info, what I need to know.

Thanks a lot!

Looks nice. Is that plug and play? Or require splicing or what?

AGreen 01-28-13 07:56 PM

That's definitely not plug and play.

How to add one touch Power Windows

5 Attachment(s)
I just finished puttung in the Autoloc system in both doors & am pleased with the way they work; they are faster & smoother. The current for the motor doesnt pass thru the PW switch contacts so they should last much longer.

Attached is a word document that explains how to do it. Also some pics & diagrams

can you post more info about your power door locks? I have been trying to figure out how they work so I can see if they can still mechanically trigger the factory alarm in my vert. Nice write up by they way. I just put the power window stuff on order.

Been there, done that twice. Answer is yes.

If you search a bit more with my screen name you'll find conversation about it.

I just bought a cheap set off Ebay, but they work fine. You can hook them up to your security system, but I didnt bother, so I'm not much help to you.
Here is a link to the ones I bought. As I said they work fine, the wiring does seem to be a light gauge though.
