My injectors have brand new pintle caps on them (yes i know, $2 each) If i send them to have them ultrasonicly cleaned, do they need to remove the pintle caps?
Thats a whole 8 bucks down the drain The on ly way i know to remove a pintle cap is to cut it off with a razor blade.

Hmm, I never had to cut mine off...Just pulled on 'em...

If you're that worried about it, clean them yourself. Pour some solvent in, shake it around, energize the coil, drain, repeat...That's about what good an ultasonic cleaner does on these things, lol...

Well you can if you are creative, power them up and hook some lines up to them and flow and reverse flow some fluid through them. Thats what Wayne was gettin at I believe.

I have done this before using a 12V power adapter as a source to trip em on and off and sent cleaner through them in both directions. Did a pretty good job too.

2 things to be careful of. First make sure you dont leave the power on it has to be sort of pulsed or you could burn out the internal electronics. And second, if you use a flammable cleaner to run through them...well pretty obvious a spark is gonna ignite it and you will be holding a little bomb

Anyone CAN do this but I dont know if everyone SHOULD do this...hehehe

Where are you sending them to get cleaned? I think www.cruzinperformance.com gives you new orings and grommets... not sure about pintle caps though.

We replace the pintle caps as part of the normal cleaning process here, as with most injector shops.

Ohhh. Cruzin has some competition. That's always good for the consumer.

I purchased some used injectors f/ Cruzin and had them sent to him for cleaning, and he does a bang-up job. They made quite a difference in performance and operation, and it was ~$52 with all teh shipping included. The price per injector is $12 for cleaning and new o-rings, caps, and a paint job.

The ones I got back from Cruzin' are on the left, the ones I pulled from my car on the right of course (the ones that were sent in looked the same as my old ones).

Did mine at Cruzin also. No performance gains at all. The dude couldn't even get one unstuck, which means all he does is clean 'em and put new grommets/caps/filters on. He said he tried to clean it 3 or 4 times. I figured the guy could rebuild them if needed...Ultrasonic cleaners aren't all they're cracked up to be. We use them for the aircraft filters, and there's still chunks of **** in the pleats after the cleaning.

In reference to the confusion above (way above, lol), I pour some acetone into the top of the injector, put my finger over the opening, shake vigorously for a little bit, then put 12vdc on the pins to open the poppet and let the gunk flow out the bottom. This is a very good test to see how clean your injectors really are, because if no varnish gunk comes out after the shaking, then cleaning is not going to do much either...And you can get all of the grommets, o-rings and such from Mazdatrix for next to nothing...

I sent mine off to Cruzin and based on the performance chart they gave me, it wasn't really necessary.
