Should I keep my S5 TII or get an Integra Type-R???
 

I currently own a 1990 TurboII and am considering an Integra Type-R as a replacement vehicle.

Here are my reasons why:
1) ITR is more practical (4 seats, fwd for winter, lower maintenance, better gas mileage, won't need to rebuild engine anytime soon)
2) More readily available support for the ITR (yes I know there are a lot of RX-7 owners/enthusiasts out there, but getting help over the net is difficult & getting it locally is impossible)

These are the 2 reasons that make me consider becoming a Honda owner.

I now ask you rotorheads to tell me why I should keep my S5 TII over an ITR.

I have a honda and a TII, If you really loved the rx7 you wouldent even be asking yourself this question. Ok you want my opinion keep it and get a daily driver. A Type R isint nearly as great a car as an Rx7 IMHO.

I loved my integra!!!!!!!!!!!! it never had a single problem!!! I could work on it to improve it not just bring it back to normal running conditions! keep both!! turbo for those need for speed days and integra quality and longevity. only problem is you could work on it for two years and then someone could come along with a tow truck and tow it to a strip shop and leave you with a frame... and four spares!!! not even a clock in the dash left. in that respect stay with the turbo!!! much less likely to be stolen!!!

Ohm well, I think the RX-7 is much better, and I hate integra's, but that is my oppinion.

Im sure he may love his RX-7 but what hes saying is that he needs something more practical I think. Like you said, theres certain advantages and disadvatanges to owning each. Either way, the ITR is a great car and a lot of fun on the track.

well I'm pretty sure no one will agree with me!! haha I don't care though. like you said it's my opinion. it's just my experience. the ratio's are great for driving, (quick shifts and accurate) they don't break down too often, good gas mileage, (even better with port and polish, plus you get more horses!) they R great cars! just the Rx7 is more unique, especially now days! I'm actually glad I've got my rx instead of my integra now, cause it's more original. five years ago the integra was somewhat original, although everyone had coffee cans for exhausts instead of real ones. Mine was real!!! it sounded good too!! ha

I really don't see the advantage to an integra, and are you going to have a true Type R inported, or are you just going to be a ricer retard and put a skyline GTR badge and say it's "damn fast yo"

like the guy said. If you really loved your Rx-7 you wouldnt be asking your self that question. I've raced a couple of ITR's with my N/A with simple bolt-ons. and i've never had a problem opening a can of WHOOP ass.

Keep the Rx-7 as a daily driver and get the teggy if you really want it.

Otherwise shoot your self in the foot for saying you want to 'trade' your T2 for an ITR...

from a stop the Rx will get the jump on an integra! but from a roll the integra will win the ratio's are much better in the integra! the rx's fourth gear is about the same as the fifth in the integra. ha you people just need to admit there's good in both cars. drive both. (the integra needs 225 50 15's to handle better the car is way undertired) you can't tell me the gear box is anywhere close to the smoothness of an integra's!

Type R..excellent engine performance and handling, will respond to bolts ons nicely and theres a billion different parts manufacteurs as well as the prices will be alot cheaper. Its kinda of nice to sometimes just have to change oil...

finally a sense of reason!!

They make ACURA Integra Type-R's in America, the Japanese don't have Acura's, Acura is American. In Japan its a Honda Inegra Type-R.

i had a gsr until i just got my turbo II this weekend.. the turbo II blows my integra away..with stock suspension is out handle but integra that had tanabe springs tokico shocks and front and rear strut bars. integra are no doubt great cars...with type r's being faster then turbo II's stock..but for easy hp turbo II's respond way better to bolt ons. if u need a reliable car with 4 seats though the type r is your pick..its a very fun car to drive..but i kno youll miss the turbo..wait...get a type r and turbo it..there you go

I made list's of all I was going to need to do my ls/vtec...had a list of everything it was gonna take to run reliable, better rod bolts, B16 slugs...I like Honda's...FAST ONES...not billy bob with his 1.6liter SOHC, (which he thinks means sock) DX, with his 5" muffler and 1" piping, and NOS stickers. :p:

I learned alot about Honda engines and have learned alot about the rotary as well as with my small block chev..I like having a spread range of knowledge about things on diff. cars...that way when I'm in my late 20's I'll decide which one is the best for me and build a 500whp moster....hehe

Actually if i could trade my accord in for an ITR than that would be really awsome, but theres simply no way in hell id get rid of my TII.
A few reasons not to get rid of a series 5 TII.
1. There very rare, how many TII s5's are there on the road?
2. The Rx7 is a more beautiful car.
3. The Rx7 is a true sports car.
4. The Rx7 is rear wheel drive.
5. The Rx7 is going to be faster easier than the Type R.
6. The Rx7 has unique handeling (I dident necissarly say better)
7. Its an Rx7.
I dunno these are just things off the top of my head and some are just opinions. I feel that comparing a Type R to an Rx7 isisnt really fair because i feel that the Rx7 is a true sports car. Again the ideal situation is to have both, thats what i would try for. Its best of both worlds.

I hear ya!! I was a week away from my supercharger the day it got stolen. DOH!! had all sorts of things done to it!! every bolt on, I could find... but shit happens... and that day it happened to me!! haha. you'd like my buddies car. he's got a 2000 accord, with a 75 shot of nos, full body kit, no funky wings or anything, he's been ordering parts for his car as soon as it comes out! now he's got a cl type s block that's gonna have a supercharger, bolted onto his accord head. (next monday!!). but it will lose the nos... if you know anyone with a v6 accord... tell them to put in the type s camshafts!! nice gain up top.

Id stick with the TII. If I want something reliable, Id invest in a daily driver like an old Toyota or something. ITRs are cool, and for all of the people who think that they are just like any other integra, you are wrong. But Id much rather have an S5 TII.

I've almost toyed with this idea as well...but for a decent low mileage TypeR I would think the price would not dip below $20,000...money that I don't have...

Last fall I finally got a ride in a I-H-E TypeR. Impressive car...handling was awesome for FWD. But, as far as speed goes, my T2 pulled on it with ease... :D

sorry I just miss my integra... like I said I only worked on it to make it better... unlike my rx where I've got to work to make it run normal...

I wouldn't get a ITR.....honda's are slow unless you spend like $10k on them lol......I have a s4 TII with 190,000 miles on the orginal engine, turbo etc and I just have what's listed in my sig and I got 14 flat at 100mph.....I spent less than $500.00 on engine mods only and that's awesome in my book.

Just my 2 cents though.....if you want an ITR, then go for it....it's up to you :)

If you were thinking about a FWD car I would get a Mazda MP3 or the new Mazdaspeed turbo.
