Series 5 Rail
ONE OF MY BUDDIES GOT A CHANCE TO HEAR MY FD THAT I JUST FINISHED. IT JUST SO HAPPENED THAT HE IS REALLY BIG ON RAIL BUGGIES. WELL HE SAW THE SIZE OF THE ENGINE AND NOW WANTS TO DO A SWAP. HE WANTS A TURBO WITH DECENT TORQUE. FIRST THING THAT CAME TO MIND WAS A SERIES 5 TII ENGINE. CURRENTLY THE RAIL HAS A 160 HP VW ENGINE WITH 95IBS OF TORQUE. ANY SUGGESTIONS.
a TII rotary engine i dont think will produce that kind of torque maybe im wrong not shure how much they produce tho...
TwEaK |
THE VW ENGINE IN IT NOW PRODUCES 95IBS OF TORQUE. SERIES 5 TII PRODUCES 196IBS AT 3500 RPM'S. BUT THIS WHAT I AM MOST CONCERNED WITH. KEEP UP THE GOOD REPLIES.
iono but if they produce more torque then the current motor he has in it then hell yea make the dam swap would be nice but if its an off road buggy or dune buggy becareful wouldnt be surprised if it like shits out on your while coming down from a jump...get me?
TwEaK |
I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN. THE VW ENGINE KEEPS BENDING PUSHRODS AND BLOWING UP FROM OTHER THINGS. I SHOULD ALSO ADD THAT HE HAS NO PROBLEM SPENDING MONEY. WE ALREADY HAVE MADE PLANS ON RADIATOR MOUNTING AND STANDALONE ECU'S. I JUST WANT TO BE SURE ABOUT THE WHOLE THING.

Caps lock? broken?
they work great. hell i was even thinking of supercharging.
lol yea bro i dont think its worth killing a rotary engine i think maybe a nice 7.3 liter diesel turbo in there omg hell fly i think he might even come off the ground cause i know those truck motor can take a very good beating...
TwEaK |
7.3 diesel may be a little too much weight. i dont thing a rotary wll take too much of a beating. anyone.
we do a few rotary buggies here at the shop
spd racing 760-787-5759 if you got ??'s on it |
great so i am not the only one with a great idea. i will call for more info. hope it is good info.
by the way. does anyone on the forum have a rail or buggy.
anyone
Well it shoudlln't be super hard.
The main concern I would guess is mating the tranny to the rear wheels. For ease I woud try a FR setup but you can always try other stuff. Other than that a TII engine would be fine. Just get an aftermarket EMS and your golden. Make sure to get a damn good air filter on that though. |
you aint kiddin about a good air cleaner. we were actually thinkin of the stock air cleaner and filter. kennedy clutch makes an vw adaptor plate that is a direct fit. so for i dont see any reason to not make the swap. we even have a radiator and blackmajic fan with built in shroud.
well does anyone else think torque is an issue.
You should have more then enough torque, I'm pretty sure your gear ratios will be short so it shoudn't have a problem with that.
thats what im hoping. well looks like i need to start getting pics.
dave at www.fc3s.org works with lots of rotary buggys I think
