Sad news : (

I sold my GXL a few days ago, some younger kid in my hometown bought it. I went home today to go to the dentist, and I saw my car driving through town..........with an aluminum wing that must have been bolted directly onto the hatch, and chrome wheels. The kid took the beautiful Konigs off of it and put disgusting chrome wheels on it. I actually did shed a tear for a minute, thinking about how he is probably going to blow the car up in a week or 2. I guess it will be able to rest in peace if that happens though. Damn, I feel like I cheated on my girlfriend or something.

chris-reedtn 05-22-03 10:00 PM

just buy it back when he blows it up for real cheap and sell those wheels.

krazydru784 05-22-03 11:23 PM

dude what are u guys talking about *bling bling* adds at least 50 hp. and the wing provides enough downforce to go over 200mph easy. :)

Dan H 05-22-03 11:25 PM

Leave a note that says...."RX7 Club knows about you!!"

Kanaida 05-22-03 11:28 PM

lol you guys crack me up

liquidferrum 05-22-03 11:28 PM

that seriously nausiates me

88IntegraLS 05-22-03 11:32 PM

What a punk. Another example of FC rice / bling, and it happens more often than we all would like to admit.

Kenteth 05-23-03 12:59 AM

Heh kinda makes me wonder how many punks on here sit silently reading knowing if they make as much as a peep they will be exiled. Well.. either way to that I'd say all the better. Then again those that believe that nasty wing creates such wonderful performance really wouldn't have much place on a performance or any other type of car technical website. Poor car :(

V8kilr 05-23-03 01:16 AM

yeah makes me sick too,

wait a minute, thats the beer, better go to bed. :puke:

Rx7Nub 05-23-03 02:29 AM

Man, that sucks, just buy a new one and make it faster and kick his rice ass!

cmanasseri 05-23-03 04:02 AM

You should have made him fill out a 5 page questionaire and sign a statement that he swore not to put any of that crap on the car.

introVert 05-23-03 04:16 AM

My condolences- the questionnaire is a good idea-

1. Do you plan to garage the car?
2. What vehicles do you currently own?
3. Do you plan to customize the vehicle?
4. If so, please list mods (to be approved beforehand)
5. Would you be willing to submit to visitation rights?
6. Have you ever owned a Honda?
7. If yes, what the f*#@ were you thinking?

Jimmy325i 05-23-03 04:44 AM

Go use one of the "extra keys" you never give the new owner (c'mon admit it.. you paid a buck a pop for those suckers and you never give them all with the car) and go take the car back. Leave a note where it was parked stating "the rotary gods have revoked your ownership permission. go buy a honda."

For all the $$ that tool spent on the N/A he coulda spent a litlte more and got a Turbo and not riced it out..

Relisys190 05-23-03 09:06 AM

if he had a turbo car, he would still rice it out

I HATE seeing cars that are just sold, turned into "rice" cars
No mom, it's not a race car, it's a Rice car. got it!

Damn man. Rx-7's dont need this.. their old, tired, and would like to be driven by someone with knowledge of their power... ect..ect..

not some punk kid with a tattoo of a honda badge on his forhead and a shirt that says "RICE"

Raptorchef 05-23-03 09:48 AM

I feel sad for your story....now i dont think ill be selling mine

banzaitoyota 05-23-03 09:51 AM

Unfortunately it is THE NEW OWNERS car now and he does have the right to "modify" it anyway he damn well pleases. If you feel so strongly about the car: Why in the hell did you ever sell it?

I personally like my cars stock appearing, so I do it. If HOJOHOMINYGRITZ wants to install the APC catalog it is his car and can do what he pleases. Will I help this individual? Probably not, Will I publically ridicule him? Probably not. What I will feel is the knowledge that my car is now worth more with another APC Equipped vehicle on the street

Center of The Universe 05-23-03 09:58 AM

Do what I do. Get a pumpkin, carve a face, attach a note to it with a knife that says, "You! Change rims, Remove wing!" written in blood. I'm sure he will like the joke too.

nemo 05-23-03 10:17 AM

just because a 17 year old american kid who just watched fast & the furious wants to mess around with his civic and make it "cool" doesn't make honda a bad company. you guys should really have more respect for honda. the kids who mess them up, on the other hand...

ZenRXSeven 05-23-03 10:22 AM

I don't think it's that he regrets selling it. He regrets that it was sold to that kid. I've been thinking about selling my beater Probe GL that's supposed to be my daily driver, yet has been seriously neglected due to my FC. I doubt I will sell it because I could probably only get about $500 for it and besides, it's a car, and you can never have too many cars/parts. But if I did sell it, and I wound up selling it to a kid who would turn it into an offensive ricemobile, I would be very sad. I mean, I don't have very strong feelings for the car, but I would like I betrayed it or something. It's one thing get rid of it and sell it away, but I would feel guilty that I didn't even give it the common courtesy of finding a good home for it to go to. It's like if you're moving into an apartment that doesn't allow pets, so you have to give your dog away, and you give it to your neighbor who neglects and mistreats it. It doesn't deserve that. :(

Rotorific 05-23-03 10:28 AM

this is why i am going to put my car on ebay or sell out of state...so its out of sight out of mind. :(

Raptorchef 05-23-03 10:31 AM

2ndGen.rocket you should just remember the good times you had with your FC and remember that deep down under the metal spoiler and ghetto chrome rims resides your FC, the one you will always love...and the one you will never have back.....=_(

I had to sell my mustang...I had to it was for the best...but it dont mean i dont miss it almost every summer day

1adzam 05-23-03 11:20 AM

I feel sad for you. I know how you feel as I came very close to selling one of my rex's. Advertised it and all and when the first buyer came to take a test drive I couldn't go through with it. These cars become a part of you... at least for me having put so much time and work towards their well-being. I would equate your situation to allowing my kids to water-color over the Mona Lisa. What a way to ruin a beautiful piece of engineering.

2ndGen.rocket 05-23-03 10:58 PM

thanks guys. Its not that I really WANTED to sell the car. I was madly in love with that thing, and I can't wait to own another one again. Its just that I live in the armpit of Upstate New York, where the winters are horrible. I needed something that was 4 wheel drive and reliable. It was just getting too hard to put my FC up for the winter and then drive a piece of shit beater that broke down every other week. And the FC was hitting the 120,000 mile mark, and I know some sort of rebuild was probably coming soon. It was all just getting too expensive for me, with insurance and school and everything else. I had to sell the car more out of necessity than anything else. I got a good deal on this new truck, it only has like 13,000 miles on it, and its great on gas even though its got a decent sized engine.

Trust me, selling the FC was like getting divorced. I've almost done it about 3 times before in past years, but I just couldn't go through with it because I loved the car too much. It wasnt really a spur of the moment thing. Trust me, Ill be around here though. The FC was the first car ive ever owned, and I can guarantee you that Ill have an FD soon, when im out of school working at least. Im hooked on 7's, Im fully convinced that they are one of the greatest sports cars ever, and getting another one is at the very top of my list.

BTW......i liked the ideas alot...haha. Im thinking about just going to the kids house at night, taking the wing off, and putting the other wheels back on. Then sending him a bill in the mail for labor charges afterwards.
