S4 TII still smoking after turbo rebuild...
So i have an 88 S4 TII.... engine has good compression, uses a little coolant and oil however this sort of seems normal for an older rotary.
I have blue smoke at idle sometimes, and allways after boosting, when i let the engine return to idle (ie at a stoplight etc). I figured it was the turbo, it was a little loose so i rebuilt it, reinstalled it and have the same problem. I am thinking that it could possibly be the turbo again, since when i plug up the oil line to the turbo, the smoke seems to stop for the most part. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I am thinking it still may be the turbo but i am unsure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Could intermittent smoke at idle be anything other then the turbo? Hopefully its not engine rebuild time? Thanks, brandon |
Could easily be your internal oil control-rings. :dunno: Bad turbo oil-seals usually smoke all the time. Bad engine oil-seals (control rings) seem to smoke on start-up and after idling for a while. Do you smell gas in your oil? Oil in your gas? Easily fouled/oily spark-plugs?
