S4 to S5 Headlight Switch Interchange?

I have searched and think I have an answer, but I want confirmation on this before I plug in and go:

I have a self inflicted headlight switch problem-here is the thread: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/s4-headlight-trouble-900802/

The car is S4. I have a burned out S4 Headlight switch and a perfect S4 headlight switch harness.

I find posts stating that the S4 and S5 switches are the same, but every post is a little fuzzy. Is the S4 and S5 switch interchangeable? I KNOW the harnesses are not interchangeable and I know the turn signal switches are not.

I have sourced a headlight switch, actually 2 switches, one is S4 and one is S5. I can't find a part number on the switches, so I cannot tell them apart by series. One switch has a white plastic side cover and the other has a black plastic side cover. Does this help with the ID? Is it even necessary to tell them apart?

If I plug an S5 switch into the S4 harness on the S4 car, am I OK?

Thanks!

The answer is that the S4 and S5 headlight switches are completely interchangeable.

You can plug an S4 headlight switch into an S5 car.

You can plug an S5 headlight switch into an S4 car.

You cannot exchange the S4 and S5 turn signal/dimmer switches.

You cannot exchange the S4 and S5 headlight wiring sub-harness.

The FB01 CPU is a direct exchange for the FB05.

The FB05 merely adds the function of lighting up the key switch and the door keylock.

Hi, could you please tell me if the S5 has a separate harness for the headlight switch, and a completely different one for the dimmer/signal switch? I know the S4 has it combined in one harness.
Thanks.
Mike

I cannot answer that question, don't know. Maybe someone else can chime in?
