RX7 Spark Plug Boots
Hi, first off I just want to say I am a complete IDIOT!
I have a 1987 Mazda RX7 that I flooded, so I took out the old spark plugs, put new ones in and... I forgot which spark plug boot goes where!!! I know which color went on top and which went on bottom, but I have no idea in what order. I was going to try a few different ways, but I don't know how bad that can be for your engine. I've tried all kinds of websites and looking at the owners manual, but I still have no idea what to do. Can anyone help me? Thx, Libby |
lol at least you admitted that your an idiot!...lol just playing with you. the way i remembered mine was the coil packs the first one on the coil pak went to the front rotor and the second one on the coil pak went to the rear rotor! i could be wrong but you know what i have over 100 miles on it since that and it is working just fine! good luck and welcome you will see we are all jerks here..lol

Ok, that makes sense, do you know what would happen if I tried to start the car and one of the boots is on the wrong spark plug? I really have no clue about the mechanics of any car... Any advice is very much appreciated.

not to sure i can't see it harming the motor much i am not to sure about the insides of the motor but i am sure all that is going to happen is your timing is going to be off like a somebitch and it will not start if it starts guess what you got it right..lol have fun and good luck

hold up hold up. There is a T and a L on each coil for top and bottom positionings. there is also a white dot on each coil also stating which boot goes in front.
WHite dot = front rotor T = Trailing which in turn means top L = leading , it goes on the bottom Make sure ur L spark plugs are on bottom and ur T plugs on top. |

That coil pack is for the Leading (Lower) plugs so "L1" is for the lower plug on rotor #1 (front) and "L2" is for the lower plug on rotor #2 (rear). Just remember T=Top, L=Lower. Number 1=front rotor, number 2=rear rotor. |
L = Leading = Lower
T = Trailing = Top 1 = Front rotor 2 = Rear rotor |

Rear coils need to go to top plugs in proper order. |

Front coil bottom plugs, doesn't matter how the wires are installed, front or rear, just on the lower plugs.
Rear coils need to go to top plugs in proper order. |
