Question,
I recently melted my "Sub-zero starting assist fluid reservoir" container. Can I drive the car without the container...I took it off? |
Many people remove the starting assist thing, its pretty much worthless, dont worry about it.
You're not supposed to even have it.
Mazda sent out a TSB to have all Mazda dealers pull those things. (TSB = technical service bulletin) -Ted |
do you know why mazda said to take them out?
Cause they didn't work...
We DO know that the valves on the lower intake manifold can leak and cause intake vacuum leaks! Right IWNTA20B? :) -Ted |
What should I do with hose...tuck it somewhere?
where is this located?
the hose that comes out of the "Sub-zero starting assist fluid reservoir" and into the engine....I took out the reservoir container , so now what should I do with the hose?
The tube goes to a little thingy that is on the Upper intake manifold, it is held on by a 10mm nut and bolt. You could take that off, then just plug the little hole, then you can just scrap the whole thing, hose and all.
tear it off and cap the injector thingy, tahts what i would do
COOL...THANKS DUDE!...you guy sure know your chit! =}
You have to plug it... don't want a vacuum leak, right?
Brad |
plug the hose?
There will be two tiny holes on the intake manifod that will need plugged. Wehn you take that thing off that I told you to before (the two 10mm nuts), there are two tiny holes under there, they will need plugged with something (just JB weld them up) or you will have a vacuum leak.
I'm curious how you melted it...
Hahaha....yea I kinda wondered that too.....
I took off my 02 Sensor because my front 2 converters are clogged, and I guess the hot air from the engine roasted the plastic reservoir....oh well
what will a vacuum leak do if I don't fix it right away???
to make a long store short...I wanted to replace my 02 sensor, but I couldn't get off, so I took it to a muffler shop and the they were able to remove it for me. By the time I got home and checked the engine that's when I noticed what happened!

It's on now, but I wanted to losen it up so that I could replace it with a NEW 02 sensor after I replaced the converters....It was only off for 9 blocks or so.

Sub-zero starting assist fluid reservoir
what's that? pics? location? -mike 87t2 |
it's that little windsheild washer looking container that's on the firewall of the passanger side right below the charcoal canister/cruise control (if you have it) and right next to the wiring harness and below the wiper motor :)
