rx7 gtr
hi pple, what is the difference between the second gen rx7 GTR from other second gen rx7?? your input is appreciated..
|
The GT-R is the Japanese base model, or close to it. The GT-X and Infini are higher.
It's still a turbo, though. |
GTR is just a Japanese-market trim level, above GT and below GTX and GT-Limited.
|
While we're here, i have a question: were there any NA RX7s in japan?
|
NO. N/A were not made in Japan i believe. or am i wrong
|
You're right. No n/a sevens at all. 1st gens not too sure of, but I know even the vert Fc's were all turbo.
|
YEAH! turbo FC3C kick ass! just dont roll it
|
The reason they didn't bring the Vert turbo to the US is because it would have had to pay a gas guzzler tax because of it's weight...
|
So since all J-spec FCs were turbos, that means none of them had that bastard automatic, right? :D
|
No, over there they had turbo autos. IIRC.

That's an interesting fact though. Was it the same auto tranny that the NAs we have use? |
No, it was a Turbo-spec auto gearbox just like there's a Turbo-spec manual gearbox.

so you guys are saying there were NEVER any Japanese domestic market nonturbo FC rx7's?
really? for sure? |

BUT - how many standard trannies do you see in a drag car that runs under 9 seconds........not many........ an auto tranny DOES have benefits - its just not as fun to rip around town with |

I think it eliminates the driver to an extent. I think shifting a manual tranny is part of what makes the race. Its not just who has more HP or reaction time. I just like the fact when your racing somebody the driver plays just as big a role in the race as the car does. :) |

A couple people said that they never made Non-Turbo FCs in Japan...But I thought they made the GTUs in Japan. Were they turbo in Japan?

the Japanese models are GT-R, turbo, it is the base model, so no sunroof, LSD, aero kit, rear spoiler. it has steel wheels, and hood. it uses the same tweed upholstery as our base/GTU model, although with turbo style seats. GT-X. this is most like the US spec T2, it has the AL hood, aero kit, spoilers, LSD. the same wheels and upholstery as the US spec T2. major difference is that it has no sunroof or ABS. GT-Limited. this is like our GXL. it has the GXL seats, AAS, ABS, sunroof, auto climate control. steel hood, no LSD. GT-Limited special edition. its a GT-Limited with leather and CD the cabriolet, is similar to the US car, except its turbo and ABS. the Infini's vary, there were 4 series, I, II, III and IV. basically they were a GT-X no back seat. they grow features as they go along, but at the end they have special seats, knee braces, a strut brace, 16" BBS wheels, with pirelli p zeros, different shocks and brake pads. |

yes, every FC is turbo in Japan. they did not get the GTUs in Japan. all the FC's in Japan were 2+2 except the Infini's.

The GT is the J-spec base model, F044 is the MSC Code and serves as the prefix for all part numbers shared on every japanese model. Ever wonder why the TII hood begins with F044? Now you know, every TII hood is JDM yo!
