We got a towed-in RX-8 here yesterday (I actually passed it on my way to work yesterday morning when it was broken down on the highway). It turns out the owner is a dumbass and changed the oil once here at 8k miles, then at an aftermarket place (jiffy lube or somewhere) at 13k miles.

Here's the kicker: he hasn't changed it since....so it's been 11k miles (the car now has 24k on it). Bottom line, the motor is oil injected, as we all know, and it drank up all but 1 or 2 quarts of oil, and he blew the engine (well, number one rotor, to be specific).

I called DIBS on the engine, so I could rebuild it and put it into my FC
But because Mazda now only offers reman renesis engines, if the customer decides to replace the engine, we have to send back the old one :(

It is going to be an expensive fix. Hey kids, don't run without oil in your engine. It isn't smart! I am still amazed why someone would do that, PLUS the interior of the car is disgusting...KFC wrappers everywhere, crumbs and clothing and crap all over the interior of the car....it's sad
