Rotary Resurrection or Pineapple Racing
Hello everyone, I am in the process of doing an s4 TII swap. I have an s4 TII long block that I need to be built (I have all the TII drivetrain and exhaust parts necessary for the swap). After hours of research I narrowed down two builders that I want to go with. Either Rotary Resurrection or Pineapple Racing. Both are great builders and tons of people have had amazing experience with either. I cannot decide with which I should go with. My goals for power is 350 whp max. I do want porting done, probably will do an aggressive street port. So yea I appreciate any advice or guidance you guys can give me regarding with which builder to go with.

Honestly. Whoever is closest for shipping purposes.
Both will do the job as you mentioned. |
Rob at pineapple is the man. I don't know much ellih66how . He's always been great to me. Always gives me more than I paid. Doesn't upsell and try to get more money out of you on parts you don't really need n6. Takes pride in his work. You'll have to use OEM apex seals if tic9

I’ve known and bought from Kevin at RR for many years. Straight up guy. Knows his stuff.

I think you would be fine with either builder. Both are excellent at what they do and offer excellent customer service. Have you talked to Dave Atkins at Atkins Rotary yet? He's a great guy with a lot of experience as well.

Your pretty close to Kevin. I've purchased from and spoken to Kevin multiple times with positive results every time. Ive also talked to David Atkins a couple times and spent thousands there... I had spoken to Jim at Racing Beat a couple times, but sadly Jim is no longer with us, but you can trust Racing Beat as well. There is Mazdatrix, Banzai, Pineapple.... or... DIY?.
Call them in the phone.. |
RR would make the most sense, due to location. however, i don't know if he does porting or not. i'm under the impression that he does straight rebuilds, but high quality, you would have to contact him and find out for sure.
here are some other options, in the event that he does not do porting. Advanced Rotary Performance. - NJ Defined Autoworks - OH Banzai Racing - IN IRP - NJ by the way, nothing wrong with Pineapple, it's just i would imagine shipping an engine from the other side of the country can't be cheap. so those guys are equally as good, but much closer to DC. |
Atkins is great as well, be sure to check them out!

All of the shops mentioned have great reputations. I've personally dealt with Kevin at Rotary Resurrection before, and he's a genuine good dude and great to do business with.

I am in the same boat as well. I have a S4 Tii engine thats sat for 19 years that needs rebuilt. Originally i was thinking going big turbo/ big port/ecu, but now i just want to get the car back on the road and start enjoying it. I am in VA
Thinking of doing the longblock sent out to RR and getting the following done. Although shipping would be killer Rebuild with streetport Emission Delete (all of the deletes....) Switch to premix Gasket Kit. Any word on RPM/UPR or whatever they are called in PA? IR performance in NJ? |

I'm sure someone can vouch for Michael Vargas. |

The quality of the build is going to depend more on how many parts you replace (as opposed to re use).

Have you ever heard of Kurt Robertson Mazda? That’s who I am going to have rebuild my motor
