unbolt your steering wheel column and glue it to the passenger side

version13 05-03-04 10:39 PM

What would be the point? Not able to see oncoming cars and get into a head on collision?

NOTE: You cannot do this on a budget

You are going to need an entire front end from Japan. That would run you near $4k From there you would probably just keep the engine and attach from the firewall. It would be a lot of welding and lots of non-exact stuff.

Save yourself the trouble and move to Japan.

gosh.....kinda harsh guys.....im going on 18 and have worked on cars for about 8 of those years with family

gosh i was jsut asking......

version13 05-03-04 10:49 PM

ClubFC3S are all professionals with many many years of experience with working with FC's. And yes, they did do it whilest using a RHD front clip. In addition, they can fabricate things very well.

Stick with making a turbo car to start with. Rather spend the $1k to make a turbo. If you are into this "racing scene" then you obviously know that looks dont mean shit. Make your car faster.

Markus 05-03-04 10:50 PM

Like said before this can be extreamly costly... That means alot of time, alot of DOWN time... The car will need to be completly ripped apart, from the firewall forward, just erase it from the picture... The new "front clip" will than need to be rewelded (pefectly) for obvious reasons back to the main frame of the vehicle. Expect to pay around 2-3 K for a nice front clip, and another 2k in misc SHIT to make this transformation possible.... and for what? Just to miss a bunch of gears trying to shift with your left hand? I mean sure it's "cool" but rather than go through the hassel. Just purchase a complete JDM car for around 5-8k and get it shipped over. You'll save time, you'll save money and you wont get the annoying problem of your front end possibly falling off while going 120mph.

Good luck San antonio RHD-er

-Markus

okay i herd it wasnt so difficult i was working on the assumption from what i herd at clubfc3s and they made it sound much more simple.....thanks alot...i wasnt planning on welding the front clip on...i herd u could jsut move some shit replace other shit...then like install the dash...but okay where to find a jdm car though....???

Gene 05-03-04 10:55 PM

It's a stupid idea for several reasons.

Can't judge oncoming traffic as accurately

Have to shift with left hand (might be a bonus if you're a leftie)

Steering shaft in the way of turbo

Hot ass exhaust and turbo inches from brake and clutch master cyl.

Can't use tollbooths or drive-thrus

frestylereaction 05-03-04 10:56 PM

why ****ing bother......its not COOL....its stupid....

these 3 are not "stupid" reasons....seeing as how its like this in almost 3/4 of the countries in the world...

its not like bringing cars to USA was a better idea because of these factors

--MAstermind-- 05-03-04 11:01 PM

hmm well ......your input is dually noted i thank u all and umm if anyone has any other ideas then please let me know.....

TurboII RudeBoy 05-03-04 11:27 PM

you need
1.rhd steering rack
2.rhd dashboard
3.rhd firewall

i'm in the process of doing this to my t2 right now.i cut the pass side of my fire wall out and welded in the jap driver side it took an hour. already put in the steering rack anddash all i gotta do now is paint the engine bay and put my motor back in

--MAstermind-- 05-03-04 11:31 PM

thanks alot for your thoughtful input

!!!!New Hope!!!!!

mcnannay 05-03-04 11:48 PM

im not flamin anyone but im just curious if you guys are doing this for any real benefit...or is it all looks, doesn't bother me either way i was just wonderin

--MAstermind-- 05-04-04 12:17 AM

the japanese feel and the look.....

NZConvertible 05-04-04 12:24 AM

Could there possibly be a sillier or more pointless thing to do to a car? I think not.

How about you give us just one good reason to waste your money doing this instead of spending it making the car go faster or handle better or look nicer or something useful...

TurboII RudeBoy 05-04-04 12:27 AM

well i'm done with the horsepower craze i don't want anymmore than 500 and i already go tthe bodykit , rim's , suspension.i don't wanna get bored with the car.so this is jus that little edge i wanted to add to my car.

See now, there's a good reason to do it. He's already got the HP and the body looking good. He's just doing this to keep himself interested/busy and to make it just a little more unique.

mcnannay 05-04-04 01:17 AM

yeah, definitly good enough answer for me, although id rather have him send me the money so i can fix my car (i know you want to! ) But hey, let him spend his hard earned money on whatever the hell he wants to, and i say go for it man...after you send me money though

NZConvertible 05-04-04 01:25 AM

Some people are easily impressed I guess...

rx-7s rock 05-04-04 01:33 AM

its seems like a huge PITA and inconvenience. What do you do when u pay tolls? Do a sky hook and hope it goes in??? You also have to put your turbo in a bad spot. God forbid you have to be like everyone else that lives in america and drive a LHD car.

rx-7s rock 05-04-04 01:34 AM

not to mention you can't even have the satisfaction of saying its a true Jspec car.

The fact that some countries drive on the left and thus have RHD cars has nothing to do with automotive engineering and everything to do with history. They were walking and driving horse drawn carriages on the left side for a long time before cars were invented.
