^Yeah, it's pretty sweet. lol...

havnt been updating this...

Here's a few things I have done lately.

MSD 2-step launch control. I swapped out the FC1000 for a 6al because the FC1000 cannot control rev limit.

I did not want to wire it to activate with the clutch. Because what happens when you shift? You activate the 2-step. Not a very good idea. So I made this little thing out of aluminum to mount on the steering wheel. The button is what activates the 2-step. The hole is for a gauge, just in case I want to add one in the future. I used an old head phone cable (springy one, like a phone cord) to wire it in. This way I can still turn the wheel without ripping the wires out. If you were to buy a similar wire and push button, they are like $80+ fuck that...

Oh, and obviously, I added a NEO. I havnt done any tuning yet. Just got an Innovate wide band set-up. So tuning will be done after the external gate goes in. Which is tomorrow. :)

Here is the porting about half done. Havnt took the grinding stone or sand paper to it yet. And got to clean up all the edges to make it pretty and even still. This will be mounted and running on the car by tomorrow. It's been sitting on the shelf just waiting to get ported and installed for a while now.

Love your car, one of my favs here, but i must say, and in no way do i mean to come off offensive, i just think your gauges dont fit the JDM performance theme of this RHD beast. =)

sen2two 12-11-10 06:36 PM

^ Thanks for the compliment, and I agree 100%

Two of them are just sitting there, not even hooked up. Just to fill in the holes. lol. That will be removed and replaced by something else when I come up with an idea of what to make for it. The boost gauge on the dash behind the steering wheel, I hate. It's also only there for the time being. I'm going to get the CF cover that mounts for 2 gauges. And the digital RPM gauge below the vents is only there because I knew my tach was off and wanted to check because I know it's more accurate. That will also be removed...

So basically, all of the gauges will be removed and replaced by something else sooner or later. Also, I never really intended to follow any theme, especially not a JDM one. I have never really been into the JDM fad. The 2 main reasons I did the RHD swap was for the challenge, and it actually came out cheaper than buying everything I needed to get this car running. I'm just building and making parts that are fun to me... No real them here here. Just a hobby. lol

I made a new downpipe to clear the wastegate a little better. Then I was like "man, all this piping for what". It dosnt really make the car any quieter. So I dropped the entire exhaust and just welded to muffler to where the downpipe would normally end. Barely any louder. And dropped even more weight off the car.

The car sounds much deeper and better to me. Others say the same thing that have seen it in person. I'm guessing the manifold porting added to the better sound at least a little. The car spools twice as fast and I can even here the turbo spooling through the exhaust now. Sounds dope... But what beats that easily, is the sound of the wastegate when that big bitch open up! lol... scream crazy. And best of all, It holds boost easily anywhere I want it to all the way to whatever RPM I feel like taking it to... dopeness.

Before this, I could go through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear with out barely breaking the tires loose on the street. Now there's no hope for the tires in 1st, same for second. And third the tires are still smoking. I even tried rolling at about 45mph and ease in on the throttle, still lights the tires up! And these are 255 wide tires.... So did this help? Fuck yeah, like you wouldnt believe...

Oh ,and by the way, I havnt tuned the Apex-i NEO at all. Nothing. All of this with ZERO tuning. Now that I have a wideband back and have a second o2 bung in the downpipe, I can actually tune the car. It's only getting better.

Pics of everything installed!

Hey i am also thinking of doing a rhd conversion, as matter of fact i already have the clip but just haven't started. I would like to ask you some questions, How hard was it, also did you have any trouble rerouting the brake lines and power steering or did everything bolt in place? I would appreciate the info. thanks edgar

Dude, mufflers go the back or side of the car for a reason. Ever heard of carbon monoxide poisoning?

The car was sold... Sad to see it go, but I plan on topping this build with a 73 Rx2 that I am now building as my street car.

Hope it went to a good home, it was a very cool project. Can't wait to see the progress on the RX-2

wow!!! just flipped through you're whole thread. man, what a lot of work!! would've been easier to import a rhd one, but I'm glad you've done it the way you have. this way when you stand back and look at it, you know what it once was, and how far it's come. well done, mate!!!

Seattle_mazdaspeeddemon 07-20-12 12:27 AM

Thanks this helped us alot. just a quick question, you did use the rhd dash mount on the left side or not? also would you have any extra rhd parts sitting around?
