Rear Wings

Where can I find a rear wing with the correct mounting brackets to fit a 1988 Mazda RX7 TII? Been looking all over and cant seem to find a place. Any suggestions?

Buy an OEM wing and stop wasting your time with ricer shops.

Now, I'm usually pretty quick with expressing my opinion about somthing I don't like, but I realized that maybe we should just keep our opinions to ourselves: he just asked a question, all he needs is a straight answer. I'd help you out, but I really don't know. Do a quick search and you should find somthing.

BTW, RX7guy is totally right... sorry! OMG, I just saw your flames... must... be... polite... HRGMF!!

Thanks for your input....but dont be jealous of my car. It will dance circles around you.

Please Help.....

I posted earlier....with no response. I have searched a million web sites looking for a rear wing that fit my RX7. Anyone know where I can find one? That fits?

pfcmooney 11-17-05 01:08 PM

I saw one on ebay, try there....if i recall it was kinda expensive though....

kungfuroy 11-17-05 01:15 PM

You need to have some patience, we are not here to answer peoples questions on a moments notice. The time from this thread to your original one is only an hour, you DID NOT need to make a new thread about it.

You will likely need to fabricate/modify the brackets to the wing you want. The FC hatch area is very limited space-wise and is not very flat. The FC is 15+ years old, waaaaaay long before the 'wing/body kit' craze came on, so most likely there are no manufacturers that make a direct fit wing.

With the cheesy graphics and the neon lights... he's right... it'll Saturday-night-fever-disco-dance circles around you.

Jager 11-17-05 02:28 PM

I can't beleive you bought a pacesetter cat-back...

But good luck on your endeavor.

MattB 11-17-05 02:39 PM

fast...but ugly in my opinion...but im all about keeping it looking stock, maybe a little body modification...but no big WINGS...or body kits...and that paint......

......eww...

get rid of the flames, paint it back to red, and your good to go...

Please only start one thread on a subject, Your threads have been merged.

there are only about 10 or 20 different rear spoilers for the FC, however if you want to pretend that you are a pilot and get a big alumimum ricer wing there are about 20 or 30 of those available for junior 747 pilots at almost every aftermarket supplier.

snowball 11-17-05 04:14 PM

sooo... you have a timeslip for this 12.2 sec @ 168 or a dyno for that, also i will put money down that your car is over 1865 lbs
as for wings doesnt RE make one?
EDIT: why yes they do. Corksport even has them. http://corksport.com/store/category/...-exterior.html

hondaslaya 11-17-05 04:24 PM

am i wrong or should every car/tshirt/hat with flames on it not just burst into flames because its so lame

I've always kinda liked mariah motorsports mode 5 rear wing. other than that, oem only.

12.2 @ 168...lol.

Sorry about that. You could try and get some brackets made that work like the GTII wing. I'm sure a fab shop should be able to make something that will follow the contours of the 7, and still bolt up to your wing.

FWIW: There was a major wreck around my way. A couple of guys were racing down the freeway. IIRC, it was very early Sunday morning. Well, the turbo civic apparently lost traction to the rear wheels at about 140mph. He flipped a few times and obviously totaled his well built car. Now I'm not advocating a HUGE ricer wing, but if he would have had "something" to help with his lack of downforce, he might still have his car.

i swear, if someone wants your opinion, theyll ask. Who cares if someone wants to rice out there 7, its not yours is it? so answer the question, or shut up

You already have a rear wing. You're not going to find one that looks better than that.

1987RX7guy 11-17-05 04:42 PM

And BTW 12.2 and 168? wtf

People have posted videos of their FDs doing mid ten second passes and trapping 30mph slower wtf.

Um people dont need to be going 140 fucking miles an hour down the freeway in the first place. This guy can do whatever he wants to his 7 (sadly) its his god given right, just as its our given right to heckle him for his silly decisions. I smell alot of BS tough, all those subs and neons and rimz etc. must have added like 500hp. "You never had your car" :MissileSm

Your right, he doesn't have any business doign 140 on a freeway.

But that doesn't solve his (the civic guy) downforce problem. In Goliad TX, there is a place called the Texas Mile. I'm sure there are a couple of faster cars that need wings.

Thats what I was looking for...is it a custom fit or do I have to do body work with it?
I will buy it if you give me a reasonable price.

Dude..if i was your car..id purposly blow a coolant seal so people wouldnt have to see me drive down the road with those yellow flames.. :balls:

as far as wings. look on ebay LOTS of them on there. you'll prolly have to have a custom made bracket for it. maybe an ajustable(sp? im tired and it looks wrong) L bracket would work. I personaly think that the Drift wing thats on all of the cars on the end of drift bible (BMI) would look good on a FC. but thats just me.

Well hey...thanks for your opinion but you aren't my car and if you were, you would be proud that somebody took the time to put their imagination into ya.

As far as wings are concerned....I looked on there and I dont want a HUGE airplane wing on the back...I want a custom fit wing that is different from the orginals.

Turbo23 11-18-05 06:53 AM

just let me give you some advice when you post here about wings...people know what it takes here to get 360, you sir look to have a stock engine with a fmic. Unless your hiding some big turbo then you must be mistaken. 2165lbs You would basically have to have a completely stripped interior, cut a ton of metal off. carbon fiber everything, no stereo, no heavy wheels (which you have) no under car lights. And 12.2 at 148. Im sorry not at 360hp. You need to do alot of research before you come here, and start saying stuff. Im not trying to be an ass, but youve come to a place where people know rx7s:) And can smell BS from miles away. If you are looking for a wing, its going to cost you about 700. They arent cheap, and the cheap ones dont do anything

First off...there is a reason why it says estimated weight...as far a the weight of the LED lights...grand total weight: 13 lbs. it wasnt 12.2..at 148...it is 11.2 at 143...eyes checked? new glasses? :molepoke: As far as Rx7s are concerned and research...I have owned this RX7 for about 5 1/2 years and i know what I am talking about..Did you know this is a German Spec car? Probably not. Did you know that I am in Germany and am not applicable to the emmisions restraints most of you guys have? Did you know that the factory weight of an rx7 in the states is 2625lbs manual (2695lbs automatic) and the factory wieght of a German Spec Rx7 is 2443 manual (2506 automatic)? Lots of differences. But your nose is failing you now cause I have no BS. People say what they want and I respect that. But I have raced, and still race this same car on the autobahn and the Hochenhiemer Ring here in Germany. I have recieved a ticket for doing 302Kms in a 130km zone. You do the math.

As far as wings are concerned. Again. I dont want a pilot wing. Just a fancy spoiler. I have just ran out of options on the net and I was hoping people could expand them for me. Justy dont like what I have seen.

Turbo23 11-18-05 07:25 AM

just to let you know, estimated weight of all turbo FC was 2700-2800 lbs. And guess what most of us here dont have emissons on our cars either:) Also what engine management system are you running? Turbo? wastegate and fuel injectors. Becuase that engine bay is very very stock looking. You do not have the setup for a 11.2 anyways. You would need atleast 450hp, with drag slicks. Plus you sir have a very stock looking suspension as well. Unless your car transforms into something else. Sorry german rx7s still made the same hp, and still weighed the same:)

Turbo23 11-18-05 07:39 AM

lol ok i see gauges, and basically all the stuff that came stock on the car. Besides the gauges. I see no information on modifications for 360hp. You would need a larger then stock turbo, Injectors, and a bunch of other stuff:) You sir do not have a gxl, turbo models in any country were never called gxl:) Also leather seats=more weight:) As i said before you will never reach 2100lbs with one A/C and a full stereo. Shit stripped down race cars almost never reach that unless they have been tubbed. Im sorry but all the info you posted tells us nothing:)

Ruffryder_29 11-18-05 07:54 AM

Again....there is a reason for the word est. (estimated) before the weight. and again, there is a BIG difference in the body specs of a US and a European Car which does in fact affect weight. If I had to guess how much it really weighed, I would say 2300. As far as my rims are concerned, I can hold them straight out to my side with one arm cause they only weigh 45 lbs total (with tire and inflated). I paid 800 Euros a piece (est. 1000$) for them. I dont have an A/C cause...German Spec vehicles do not come standard with them. Hell they dont even have A/C in their houses!!! As far as my stereo is concerned, My whole back end box enclosure weighs a total of 84lbs. Those are not the specs for my car nor did I say they were.

Turbo23 11-18-05 08:00 AM

european fcs were no different! Japan did not send special FCs to europe! FBs barely weight 2100-2300, and thats without a turbo, and sound system, and they are the smallest of the rx7 family! And sir in your picture of your engine bay, i see a A/C compressor sitting directly under the powersteering:)

rxse7en 11-18-05 08:01 AM

Your German spec FC has an a/c compressor in the photo of your engine bay.

Ruffryder_29 11-18-05 08:03 AM

You know arguing with you is like talking to my 5 year old daughte except she listens. The engines are the same. The bodies arent. Until you come here and see for yourself....dont comment on things beyond your IQ.

What part of i dont have an A/C dont you understand? Just because it is in a pic that was taken 1 year ago doesnt mean its still there. I had it installed then found out it robbed me of HP so i took it off. Im done with ya though. Bring your banger here and we can really see ok?

Turbo23 11-18-05 08:07 AM

but i thought you didnt have AC? Body's arent the same eh? Hmmmm japan must have forgotten to tell the rest of the world that they sent special FC's to europe. Sorry same body, same engine, same car as everyone else. The only difference should be right hand drive...wait a sec, let me guess you have a special european left hand drive FC....shall we keep going?

Ruffryder_29 11-18-05 08:23 AM

research is the answer for you little one.

Turbo23 11-18-05 08:26 AM

please elighten me as to what research i must be doing...btw you paid 1k per wheel for american racing wheels?

Turbo23 11-18-05 08:28 AM

btw in your car domain profile its Michael Schumacher! Not schoomaker!

I just stumbled on this post..

Here are the specs on the car:

Bragging Rights
Quarter Mile 11.2 sec @ 143 mph
est. HP 360 hp
est. wt. 2165 lbs

Now, I didnt see a chute.. Thats a requirement for 140+. And I didnt see a roll cage, thats a requirement for 11.99 and below.

Just curious what track this run was logged? Is there a timeslip?

rxse7en 11-18-05 08:52 AM

Um. Not to beat a dead horse, but isn't Germany a right-hand drive country?

Ruffryder_29 11-18-05 09:02 AM

Again, you dont need a chute or roll cage or what ever else you need in the states. I am not in the states. Again, different rules, different country, different body...etc...

Yep, thanks for clearing that up, but I did happen to live in Germany for 3 years in 94-97. And German drag racing is governed by a sactioning body just like USA is:

In 1997, the FIA began sanctioning drag racing in Europe with a fully established European Drag Racing Championship, in cooperation with the NHRA with rules established from the NHRA. The major European drag strips include Santa Pod Raceway in Podington, England and the Hockenheimring in Germany.

Source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_Racing

So again I ask, where is your rollcage/firesuit/chute? And most importantly, where is the timeslip?
