If properly designed, rear diffusers reduce the drag coefficient by straightening out the air flow and reducing turbulence. You will see them on just about any racing series that allows them. Most of the ones you see on ebay are probably just ricer visual mods, though. They are usually more effective with other aerodynamic mods like a full underbody tray, etc.
Diffusers such as the RE-Amemiya diffuser not only smooth out airflow out the back but they accelerate the airflow and create a suction effect pulling the rear end downwards at high speed. So instead of having a spoiler you can use a diffuser for the same effect or added downforce with a spoiler.
Personally I think an FC Coupe with no spoiler and a diffuser looks badass.

^^agreed. you are probably seeing the knock off of the RE-a diffuser that has flooded ebay lately. i dont know if they are functional like the original stuff but most street cars really dont have a need for one anyway

I doubt that a diffuser does much good on most road cars, or even track cars, they're not low enough, and they lack the smooth underfloors.

Can anyone identify that spoiler? kinda looks like a sport spoiler but not exactly.
You won't find the owner of that car on here anymore. That was HKSFC3S, or something like that. He had a very very nice S5, that's actually the Sport wing I sold him (I missed it so much, I went and bought another one for my new FC). The car actually burnt down in a big shop fire, his car and about 25ish other various generation 7's were totally destroyed, last I heard from him, the insurance adjuster was being very giving....
