Really stupid question for vert owners...
Ok, don't laugh too hard at me on this one, just picked up a '89 vert and was wondering how to get the BBS wheel center caps off without breaking them? Do they twist or just pop off?
they twist off. I use a set of oil filter pliers and a rag, or craftsman makes a nifty little tool. Its like a handle and a rubber strap that slips into the handle, that works the best in my opinion.

Got ya, thanks for the info.
neat fact, they actually came with a proper wrench when the car was new......
yea, i found the tool in my trunk, but some of them are hand-loosenable
no tools for me, I'm lucky it came with a lug wrench...
and they're wonderful rims!
Mazda was selling the tool for a little more than $59 a few years ago. BMW was selling the same tool for their look -alike wheels for $15.
As an alternative to a rag and a HFW (Huge F*ckin Wrench), you can get a rubber pipe wrench and it will work just as well. Edit: Didn't see all of FCGizmo's post. He's right about getting the pipe wrench at Sears. |
I found a tool with a BMW logo on it for a reasonable price on ebay.
